As to the question of Smith's status as a top qb prospect ..... go punch in his name in Google News. His draft status, at least for the moment, is soaring after his Pro Day workout and the talk in the past couple of days is that he's likely in the top 10. The Eagles just worked him out. They have pick #4.

I am not a big fan of a one time workout raising a guy's draft prospect that much. I would accept maybe a few spots because of a good workout, but if a guy is that good, it will show in his game. I guess I could thank Bill Parcell for this little wisdom in that a guy's record on the field in college makes him what he is and one workout is not enough.

If he wants to be #1, then he would play like a #1 when it counts. IMO

missed on Kapernick. But Wilson? A lot of the better scouts pointed out the fact that he is about the same size as Brees. So that size question really only mattered to casual types and those so concerned about measurements.

Game film would put geno way down the list last year.

Geno Smith 2012 stats- 4205 42 TD 6 INT

I know stats aren't the end all be all, especially in college, but what about last year hurt his draft stock? The fact that his team stunk? He took care of the ball and put huge points up for his team. Not sure what else he was expected to do. I'm not saying he's a great prospect or should be the #1 pick or anything, but your evaluation of him is way off. If used correctly and in the right system hes going to flourish in the NFL.

Now there the thread is done.

I agree that this QB Class lacks the star power of Andrew Luck and RGIII, but to say Geno Smith doesn't have talent proves you haven't watched him much. He has done well as a college qb, over 11000 yards and 98 TDs. Will that translate to the pro game is a valid question. He will need the right situation to be successful. He needs a reasonable O-Line in front of him. He doesn't like a lot of pressure. He can move around the pocket well and scramble if necessary, but is not really a running threat.

I think he will be gone before Dallas picks but we have bigger needs anyway. Depending on what, if anything, we do in free agency the draft will need to solve several problems, OL, DL, S. WE also need depth at several other positions so I wouldn't think they draft a QB at all.

no one is saying he is untalented. Just that the idea that since he seems to be the top QB in the draft this year makes him a top pick is wrong when compared to last years QB class

100% he'll be gone. There are lots of teams in the top-10 alone like ARI, OAK, CLE, BUF, even PHI etc. that will try and trade w/KC to get ahead of JAX or at least each other to draft Smith. No way we can top a deal like say ARI's 1st and 2nd picks to KC for the #1.

You think Smith will not only go in the top 10, but 1st overall?

I'd bet my house Geno goes in the top 10. Probably not #1 overall because I don't see Andy Reid passing on the chance to take a premium o-lineman, but Jax, Oak, and Philly all need a QB at 2, 3, and 4. After that Browns, Arizona, and Bills all also need QB's. Don't be surprise when a 2nd QB gets taken in the top 10 too....just the way the nfl goes.

It's the 1st overall part that I doubt, not at all the top 10.

The 1st overall pick is move than twice as valuable as the #10 pick, for example. Huge value difference.

I agre, odds are areal high that smith goes early in Rd1

I read JAX had its entire front office watching Smith's Pro Day so I inferred from this there's a chance they might take him at the #2 spot which means to get him a team would have to trade for the 1st pick.

You know KC is loving that scenario.
