You know, with all this talk of the Defend the Star memory with the stadium being knocked down, etc. etc.

I dont think there is a GREAT enough appreciation for George Teague. I mean seriously, how sick was that for him to run after TO and blow him up for celebrating on our star. We'll probably never see something like that in our lifetime again.

viva la George Teague

All anyone remembers about Teague was the defending the star incident that pretty much tells you what kind of career he had.

No, maybe that tells you more about the so-called football fans. "Mr. Glue" holds the record for the longest interception returned for a TD in the playoff's 102 yards. In Dallas he was a huge upgrade over Brock Marion and solidified the secondary with Woody.

George appreciates all the kind words.

I'm at a loss as to why anyone would slag George Teague on this forum. Great player and a great guy. I have never read or heard someone say a bad thing about him ever. Then again a lot of things on this forum don't make any sense.

Brock Marion was a pretty darn good player for the Cowboys and Dolphins. He played for 2 of our 3 SB winning teams. He started all 16 games in 95 the year the Cowboys won SB XXX finishing that season with 6 picks returning one for a TD. Those were alot more talented teams than the Cowboy teams Teague played for. Teague didn't live up to his first round draft status in Green Bay that's why he only lasted 3 years with the Packers. When the Cowboys picked him up in 96 he started 8 games and was let go after just one season. He then went to Miami where he started 6 games and was let go and Brock Marion was brought in to take his place and Marion started all 16 games for Miami that season. Marion spent 6 seasons in Miami and started every game but one during that period. The Cowboys picked Teague up again in 98 after Marion left for Miami. He started just 5 games in 98 for the Cowboys.

In 99 he started 14 games producing 3 int's and 2 TD's. He did virtually nothing the next 2 seasons and that's where his career ended. Brock Marion was clearly a better player than George Teague. Marion played 12 years starting in 154 games compared to 9 years and 101 starts for Teague. Marion had a career total of 31 int's compared to 15 int's for Teague. I'm not saying Teague wasn't a decent player the point I'm making is all anyone ever remembers about his career was him decking TO and defending the star. This is a fact!

Probably the last true free safety we had. Darren Woodson played there when we got Roy but Woodson got by on his football savvy, he was more suited for Strong Safety.

Jerry should give him free tickets for life.

Haha indeed.

I know that was a tough time for the Cowboys and everything, and I'm pretty sure they lost that game, but that has to be one of the best moments in Cowboys' history.

I don't think so. He was solid and serviceable and that's the best can be said of him.

that play, huge play to help win a championship. unless you don't watch college I guess.

Didn't he cause a fumble vs. the Vikings in the 96 playoff game? I remember he poked it out of the runners grasp just before he crossed the goalline...causing a touchback.

:hammer:

And I've always thought that play jimmy40 posted was one of the greatest football plays I've ever seen. I used to dream about doing that when I was a kid.
