Get ready, about to return to the Dave Campo years!

We all wanted MM to go, but Jerry looking to hire another "puppet" is going to take this franchise back to the Dave Campo 5-11 days. They are going to say, wasn't it great to be 12-5 every year and be in the playoffs now only rooting for a better draft position. This franchise is headed for rock bottom!
Campo was far worse than a puppet. He didn't have a clue on anything, in game, preparation, outlook ..offense, defense,.

No team in the NFL thought of him as a HC ,.. only Jerry.

We'll have to see what eventually becomes of the HC coach hire hear,..but as with the majority, i;'m not feeling very good with the future of this club.

Just saw that Bears snatched up Ben Johnson and the Cowboys don’t even interview him, that is malpractice alone

McCarthy didn’t get along with Kellen and Harbaugh had his own guy. You know how it works. Looking at who the Cowboys are interviewing it appears there trying to get a staff together for him.
Yes, unfortunately.

I don’t blame the coaches. Garrett, McCarthy and the next guy can only win with what roster is given to them. It’s obvious what is going on here. Jerry is clamping down like a leach. The best thing we can hope for is he makes the hire fast so we can get the assistants in so we can start on free agency and the draft. Belicheck and Deion where national media created pipe dreams that the fan base seemed to believe would come true. Marty’s son has a better chance at being the next head coach over Deion and company.

Agreed, their type of “run” is making the playoffs 3 years in a row and getting nowhere. That’s their ceiling the last 3 years.

The talent of the roster is so much better now than it was in those days it's very hard to see a return to the Campo years.

And no, it wasn't great to be 12-5 every year only to get humiliated at home in the playoffs every year.
Not that hard to see. Only 7 wins this season. Dave was a 5 win perennial. Dak degrading further and a bad coach hire will easily have us in Campo territory.

Yep. Pay your QB the most ever and then don’t bring in a coach to get the most out of your money. Great plan

Whoever it is, I'll be watching every game and rooting on my team. Just like most of us.

Hated the playoff loses, but I loved every win. I didn't take any of them for granted.

I don't think its going to be that bad, since those teams were totally devoid of talent. reminded me of the 1989 teams. this team has some talent, but not the right combination of talent and not focused on winning. we will win enough. just enough to be relevant and make Jerry feel he is close and the team is close. but we won't have three 5-11 years.

This is what happens to teams that fail to evaluate their talent and take such a cavalier attitude towards coaching.

..I think Campo is the exception. That guy was sorry as hell..
If you have good team,.like we do.
Just matter of plugging common sense into system.
What makes you think the Cowboys have a good team?

Dallas does not have a good team. More holes in this roster than swiss cheese.

stop doing this here's common sense and I'm tired of having to do this but you guys gotta get called out Ben Johnson was never interested in the Cowboys job matter of fact he only had one team in mind apparently their pre interview whatever happened before the bye week they already made a deal you know how easy is to piece together that to make it a fact because he's already in the middle of signing his contract the day after his team exited the playoffs and they're talking about he spent last week putting together his staff that he'll have with the bears this deal was done he wasn't gonna interview with any other teams and this is like the free agents that are linked to this team and that we blame Jerry for not signing them many of them already had a target most of them have a choice on where they go and sometimes the Cowboys just aren't the choice I mean this is like the Mike vrabel hire with New England they knew when they fired Mayo they only had one guy on the list and we both know everyone in here knows Mike rabel would take the job if offered and he would also not interview anywhere else...

The Cowboys never had a shot at even getting a formal interview because Ben Johnson made-up his mind and by the way I love how we anoint this guy as some superhero when he can't take his staff not in its entirety he can't take any of his players with him he can't have Dan Campbell as confident anymore he literally is coming to be a first time head coach and we act like this is the best hire no this is the best name according to the media he just happens to be the hot man that doesn't mean he's gonna do a damn thing in the NFL that'll be considered special...

This is almost as bad as them having the lions in the Super bowl everyone was thinking this is the creation or the beginnings of a dynasty and they got proved wrong...

I believe he picked the bears because he knows that division really well and they have a lot of young malleable talent... They have a mobile quarterback that can be molded and they have enough talent on that team with some small additions that he feels he could have the best shot at being a successful head coach taking that job he had no other teams in mind and you can't prove otherwise once he met with the it was a done deal.. But in no way shape or form is this guaranteed to workout this could be just another Chip Kelly Bobby petrino Nick Saban Urban Meyer just to name a few but there's a lot of failed first time head coaches in the NFL sometimes the retreads are the best because they've been there and they get to try to correct the mistakes that they used to make like Dan Quinn you act like he's some prize over there most people did not want him back here in Dallas he's doing well so far in one year in Washington but he is a retread Jim Harbaugh is a retread...

LETS BE CLEAR,

I just wanna remind folks that said Jerry was being unfair by not releasing Mike McCarthy because he was rumored to be the top hot shot replacement over there in Chicago well guess what Mike got released from here he goes over there and interviews he doesn't get the job that had nothing to do with the Cowboys that's why fans can keep just blabbering on on the Internet like things are facts and this is just opinions in my opinion Dallas had zero shock at Ben Johnson so why bother with an interview that you were never gonna get you can request them all you want..

Just like the Raiders right at the beginning of this process try to set up an interview with Aaron Glenn and he shot him down Aaron Glenn wanted no part of the Raiders well I imagine that any team but the bears contacting the agent of 1 Ben Johnson would have got the same treatment he already made-up his mind I mean he's putting together a staff last week for this job and he's already got a contract almost hammered out there putting the dots and crossing the TS on everything he was already the bears head coach it was over people let it go...

It's gotten to that point, where Coaches don't even want to even interview with the team.

Agree, more like the Jason Garrett years of 8-8.

If you're acting like that's a negative no sometimes first time head coaches especially they need to pick the very best opportunity it's why Ben Johnson stayed with the lions a year more 'cause he had opportunities last year he was looking for the best opportunity for success somewhere he can grow into the Dallas Cowboys are a team full of veterans especially at quarterback but at the core of this team are not as moldable and it's not a long term project I think the bears may allow Ben Johnson more time to develop and build the team whereas right now the Dallas cowboy window is barely cracked open and it's not as attractive to a first time head coach...

You're taking what I said out of context I didn't say it as a negative I'm saying that the coaches themselves just like free agents have chosen to make sure the opportunity is the absolutely best fit possible and in my opinion that's why Ben Johnson chose the bears it's a division he knows well they have a young core specially at quarterback they have a mobile quarterback that with a little tweaking he could be entering a situation like Dan Quinn did in Washington where they have things nearly in place but young a lot of money on the salary cap a way to actually ease into your job..

. The Dallas Cowboys team as it's set up is one of the things they want you to just hit the ground running and there is no room for taking time to get it developed and going so yes coaches make decisions that suit them best is not an anti cowboy rhetoric it's literally this Cowboys team would be better off with a coach with a little more experience.

I'm going to keep pointing this out though since when has Ben Johnson guaranteed success in the NFL???!!! I already listed a bunch that are failures there are more failures from rookie head coaches for first time NFL head coaches that came up from college even that don't make it then there are the ones that make it I think this team needs a more veteran presence at head coach so Ben did not fit here for that reason not because he didn't want to come here it wasn't a good fit and I don't blame him.. There's sure a lot of people anointing this guy's success without keeping pertinent information that he's not bringing that roster with him he's not bringing most of his coaching staff with him he's not gonna have the direction of Dan Campbell you think Dan Campbell are in the same divisions gonna be a friend of his now like being a confidant? There's a lot of question marks on whether even Ben Johnson is gonna be a good head coach it's not like the Cowboys just lost out on the next coming of Tom Landry I mean you guys sometimes are hard to have a debate with because you think we just lost out on some Big Lottery and we don't even know that for a fact....

but he didn't wanna go anywhere else either, there's four more openings, this is not the only job he rejected, the Dallas Cowboys never needed to interview him knowing that he wasn't coming here, it seemed like the bears was his target and he wasn't going to really give anyone else the time of day not just the Cowboys....
