People in science believe that if it hasn't any proof, or it hasn't been discovered, then it is not a possibility.
There is absolutely no proof at all that the Higgs Boson exist, yet scientists have spent billions of dollars building the Large Hadron Collider, and countless research hours including "trillions of mini big bangs" and have yet to encounter one. They thought they did last year and realized it was just an issue with the machinery. Yet they still to this day think it is the element that gave life to the earth.
So to say something that has no proof and hasn't been discovered is not a possibility is beyond wrong.
They have yet to prove the Higgs exist, or that the Big Bang is a fact. Both are theories, yet people all across the world believe both. Not saying I do or don't myself. I am just trying to argue the point that things don't have to be concrete to be believed by science.

As far as ghosts, I am slightly skeptical myself. I have never seen one, but I know several people that claim to. I believe their accounts, but haven't seen one myself. I am convinced most are explainable situations of misidentification, but that doesn't mean they all are. There have been lots of stories and videos that just can't be explained away.
And Aliens? I am a huge believer in that field. I have a hard time wrapping my head around scientists discovering that there are literally millions if not billions of planets out there and that we are the ONLY life. It just seems to me like the possibility of having that many galaxies and planets and we are the one freak occurence, is so staggeringly low that I have to think something else is out there. I don't know if they look like the Aliens we see on TV or not, or if they are simply plant life, or even just micro organisms, but I believe there is something else on some other planet. I doubt I'll ever see one in my lifetime, but I'd like to know.
