Let's just put it this way. If we can't beat the Giants in the season-opener, at home, on national TV, then we aren't what we think we are. We're more talented on both sides of the ball and the Giants have some serious issues on the OL and in the defensive backfield. We should be able to put 30+ points on the board and we should also be able to put a lot of pressure on Eli. If we don't win this game, I will be more disappointed than I've been in a long, long time.

I agree whole heartedly!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Losing to the G men in our first game ,@ home ,would be a tough pill to swallow.:bang2:

And reading the posts on this forum afterwards would be horrific!!!!!!!!!!:shoot6:

That '02 Tampa team lost to the Saints in their opener(and ended up losing to them again). That '03 NE team got spanked by Buffalo in their opener.

Look what happened with all 4 of these teams when all was said and done.

Giant fans on one of the Giant fans forums I routinely check out (never post on it) sure are confident/cocky they will beat us. They cite our new head coach/new offensive coordinator/Wilson's suspension/no pass rusher except Ware/not enough LBs cause Ellis injuried/Newman injury & most of all their confidence in their new DC's sack attack. They believe they have the defense which can blitz Romo to death & destroy us with the running game & Eli's great passing.

It sure would be nice if we could send them home with a very thorough and satisfactory spanking. Just hope Cowboys prepared for the new defensive strategy (remember their new DC formerly worked for the Eagles) which will be very similar to what Eagles traditionally employ against us.

Not surprising, I bet all 31 other teams message boards are predicting a victory, nature of being a fan.

With that said, if a Tiki less G-men team beat us at home on openning night with a very average QB (see Eli), then it is going to be a long season.

We should win by 2 TDs easily against this team, Philly is our main concern in the division.:)

Yes. Tiki was the real threat. He is gone.
We could put this one away early.

I am thinking that Garrett and his GCO is thinking the same thing :D

Something about the Giants always worries me.

I still have nightmares of the game in dallas last year when i thought we would destroy them.

Thank the lord there is no more Tiki barber...he was the killer most of the time.

McNabb QB'ing or Kolb?

This is a Little off-topic, but alright ...somehow, I think you kow McNice will be at the helm ...but I like what I see in Kolb.

Back on topic ...

Eli isn't looking too shabby either. Do you think your OL can protect Romo sufficiently against the Giant's DL?

If everyone stays healthy, our OL will be a big time plus this year. I think a lot of opposing fans think our OL is going to be the same as it has been over the past few years. They will be wrong. Flo is over a year removed from his ACL, Gurode has turned into a Pro Bowl center, Columbo is finally completely healthy, Kosier is solid if not spectacular, and everyone will be surprised how The Big Man will dominate now that he's on a good team. We should dominate teams up front.

1. I have to agree with you. He looks like someone who can command that WCO.

2. That's a good question-we've had major OL issues under Parcells, largely b/c of the scheme. We'll see out it turns out.

Don't mention it! Besides, most teams have the same sytem in place ...he's called a backup!

FWIW-I too, like McNabb, was surprised when Philly made Kolb their top draft pick.

Not that it means anything-but I would think you could find a decent QB in the later rounds.

A good question coming from the lowest common denominator of NFL Fans (Eagle fans)....although, you actually seem like a decent enough fellow.

I'm one that's very worried about our game vs the Giants. Most on here think it'll be an easy blowout win.

Won't happen.

Eli and Shockey have both been playing very well. This doesn't bode well for us since our biggest weakness is pass defense. We have particular struggles in defending TEs.

I think we'll struggle protecting Romo. The Giants will bring blitzes from every possible angle. Their LBs should be great pass rushers...considering Kiwi is a former DE.

The OL will have to give Romo some time....and he'll have to make the correct reads and not try to force too much. If he gets time, then I think Romo will have a huge game. We simply have too many weapons offensively.

That being said, I have a very uneasy feeling for this first game. It's not jitters....as I usually feel. I'm downright worried. Plus, our record on opening day hasn't been great the past few years....We used to be $$$$ with Landry.

I think the Giants "Shock" us at home (yes, I feel Shockey will have a very big game).

I truely hope that I'm wrong. I just don't think the Giants are as bad as we think.

They have plenty of talent....especially in their defensive front seven.

I don't think they are, personally. I've mentioned many times here how their X factor will be their new DC(who comes from the Jim "aggressive, aggressive" Johnson mindset).

And they have another RB(Bradshaw) that could very well compliment Jacobs they picked up in the draft.
