That's the best plan. Sell out on the run, cover short and intermediate passes. Boom.

Agree w you 100%
Easier to say than do...It's never that simple, especially against arguably the best offense in football.

IF they can limit the running game and stay on Witten and Beasley, then they'd have to defend Dak running or Zeke on a screen play. Ask the Sqeelers how that worked out. Also, I suspect Dez will have a big impact on this game. Dak is getting more and more comfortable throwing it his way a la Romo. Earlier in the year, Dak didn't wait on Dez to get free and passed up some easy TDs. Now I think he's a bit more patient and the deep passing game will continue to improve. Bad news for other teams...

well giants arent the hawks either.

and even than. hawks have holes of their own. they just lost their safety E.T. but yes they would be closer to exploiting Dallas than the Giants.

Certainly agree. That doesnt negate the fact that they DID post the correct solution. Now, talking about it and executing it are two very different things lol

The problem with this "plan" is that you still have to get pressure on the quarterback. The Ravens did well against the run but they were unable to get much pressure, especially in the second half. Even their blitzes were stonewalled.
The general idea is correct but I actually think it's much more important for a defense to have answers for Beasley and Witten than to just completely sell out for the run.

If you got any doubts read the sturm thread. He lays it out perfectly.

while its well written and insightful Crown Royal perfectly laid out the rebuttal against it like a boss. u may disagree and thats fine. but i dont doubt his rebuttal at all so i doubt giants game plan since they arent the vikes and since vikes lost.
cowboys own issues>opponents stressing the issue

so many times Cowboys could have blown that game wide open but some dumb mistake (that Cowboys usually dont make) or a ticky tack call made the difference. yes i know you have to beat the zebras too and Cowboys did just that in vikings territory.

look at that game on paper Cowboys should have lost. we said the same thing about the skins over 500yards. this team keeps winning these games they should have lost on paper. its rather remarkable.

I'm not sure what's funny. That is absolutely how to beat the Cowboys. Sell out on the run. Make the QB have to beat them deep.

Well, yeah, everybody knows how to beat Dallas, but knowing how to do something and actually doing it are two different things. Just ask Chicago, San Fran, Cincinnati, Green Bay, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Minnesota and Washington. (ask the Skins twice) At some point the better team is just better.

I expect Sunday night to be a dog fight, but if the Giants have success it's not going to be because they've figured out some magic recipe. I don't know but I'm guessing that the coaches in Baltimore and Minnesota are probably as sharp as a bunch of Giants fans.

I think what fans are overlooking in the Vikings game is that penalties was the root cause of our anemic offense...not Dak. We were moving the ball, but the penalties put us in a lot of 3rd and longs that we couldn't overcome...especially against a top notch defense. a secondary impact I think was fatigue of playing 3 games in 11 days. Now that the OL and Zeke have had a chance to recuperate, Iexpect they will be running on all ccylinders.

The plan is much easier. Have Mara mention to Roger at dinner Friday that calling 10 penalties against the Boys is the only way to be sure the game is close. Done.

Anyone who disagrees care to wager ?

Unless they just play like crap and beat themselves, I don't think you can beat the Cowboys offense with any one strategy on defense. You need to mix things up and try to catch them wrong-footed often enough on both run and pass plays to stall drives. Someone like Belichick could get a good feel for when the play would be run vs. pass and have the box stacked on a high % of the run plays and weird coverage/blitz combinations dialed up for a high % of the pass plays. Problem is the Pats defense is nowhere near as good as it looks on paper (stuffing the likes of the Jets, Browns, 49ers and Rams will make your stats look great.) The talent isn't there like it was in 2014.

Let's say you just stuff the box to stop the run. That just gives Dak easy looks all over the field - guys are going to get wide open on short routes and be single covered deep. You can't have everyone swamp the box AND cover the short routes AND give people help deep AND put a spy on Dak in case he runs the ball himself, too - you're going to make Dak's job just stupidly simple.

I almost think you're better off admitting that Dak is actually very important, and try to ruin his day instead of Zeke's. You will give up more runs, but if you can get some sacks and a couple of picks or fumbles you might do more harm to the Cowboys win chances than "limiting" Zeke to 90 yards and 1 TD instead of 120 and 2 TDs or whatever.

Some posters are confused. The opponents "best plan" is just that the best option to give them a win. Doesn't mean they will win, it's just their best option or choice. Obviously sitting back and playing prevent is the "worst plan".

Once again, just because it's their best plan or option doesnt mean it will lead to victory. It's just the "best" option.

Our "best plan" is to run the ball and control the clock. It's what we prefer to do to give us the best chance at victory.

everything they do is predicated on man to man outside. That is why tight ends keep having big games. IF they do that sunday they will give us shots at big plays all over the field. Not to mention if there corners are turning and running that leaves dak to get out of the pocket.

They also have given up a fairly large number of deep passing plays, I forget the stats but its a bunch of big plays.

If you guys don't think that's the best plan then what is your best plan to stop the cowboys? Lol

What would you tell your team if you where coaching them? What would be your strategy to stop the boys?

Let me guess. Stopping the run would be a huge part of your game plan.

Agreed, strategy is not the issue rather it's talent. It's simple, teams can't hang with us. There isn't a 3rd corner in the league that could hang with Beasley. People say Witten is slow but he's beaten just about everyone lined up in front of him. Lastly, whether you crowd the box with 7 or all 11, Zeke is going to get his yards.

The 42 yard run was called back due to a bull holding call. They didn't stop our running game.
