Big Tough talk Barkley ended up getting nothing long term but a franchise tag signing and 900,000 in incentives and will be his last year with the Giants when they draft a running back in next years draft...I guess he should have signed a deal last year when I believe the Giants were offering 13 mil a season...
Greed seldom pans out…..unless Jerry is negotiating the deal

What is utterly stupid is watching talk shows this morning (aka. ESPN) and they are suggesting that if he has another 1,000 yard season his value will drop next year due to age, etc. Wasn't part of the issue signing him to a long term deal is his injury past? Now, if he has a 2nd year in a row great season how can his value go down? He's only 27....the Giants won this in the end IMO
Excellent post IMO. I was thinking just this. I think Barkley gets a better contract had he not had those injuries. That's a big deal in the NFL.

They consider 27 old for a running back…..

I do get that, but the knock on him has been his health..when healthy he is a top RB who hasn't been able to stay healthy. Give him 2 years in a row of production and health, I cannot see his value dropping of all things. This is idocy at it's best. It may stay the same, but to drop? He's only making 11 big ones.

I mean what is happening to Dalvin Cook right now? Or Derrick Henry?

In the end it’s really the difference between being able to own a Hondajet instead of a Leer Jet

Saquon should have taken the 13 million per year and the 20 Million guaranteed as was reportedly offered

does this mean that Saquon won’t be attending the weekly “Running back Summits” any more?

Man I’d take a W regardless of who’s playing. Eagles don’t apologize for beating Cooper Rush. When it’s a rival game anything can happen.
Yeah I get ya. Strength vs strength, full slat of starters, no excuses on either side, go get the W and move to the next week. If the boys win and they were w/o their best player now we don't have to listen to the media say...yeah they got a win but the gnats didn't have barkley...

So he's not playing on the tag which means he can get tagged again next year without the multiple tag penalty and compensation increase? And for essentially the same $$. Feels like insider trading.
I'm sure part of the deal was, " No tag next year".

How does a 1 year deal worth up to $11 million help his situation. The Giants get him for a little more than the franchise tag amount and can franchise him again next year.

This is a small victory for Barkley. If he gets injured again as he has been prone to do, his value next year will be half what he got this year.

agree, it's the whole market. My point is that all these know it alls are suggesting his value will drop next year if he puts together another great season. That in itself doesn't jive with anything. There will be a revolt if the RB market gets even worse that it is now

It doesn't help him, nor the others who are holding summits protesting. I said a while ago there is zero chance he holds out, and gives up all that money when at anytime he gets a serious injury that kills what's left of his career

Yeah but it’s week 1 lol….you remember happened week 1 last year and what happened when the wild card hit? Means nothing either way. I guess the media can spin it our season is over if we lose though.

Oh I think it will. I think the only thing that may save the market is when some of these first round picks re-sign like Bijan….but we are years away from that so it might go bad before it gets better.
