I can just imagine the big "Summitt" meeting.
"We need to stick together on this..."
Josh Jacobs books a flight outta Vegas while Saquan buckles and
signs a one year deal... lol/smh

Looks like Barkley saw the writing on the wall. He loses more by sitting out the year. I see this as his final year with the Giants. They are just buying themselves more time to find his replacement. Whether FA or the draft. Confirms that RB has been devalued. Henry and Cook are next. Let's just say that the Zoom call was not very encouraging to these guys.

Unfortunately, Pollard's last year too.

Barkley obviously is a very good back. In the right setting he could have been mentioned in the same breath with some of the great ones. Having said that he'll just be a footnote in the NFL RB book.

He'll make the NYG offense pesky but he has never been a Cowboy killer. The NFCE race just got a little bit tighter though.
He’d be so awesome if the Giants had a better OL and a good WR to take the pressure off.

He got only another 900k in incentives and now his next deal floor stays at the franchise instead of franchise +20%...this is a complete fold.

He’s going to make more money this year and then still get tagged…it’s not a fold

Saquon....this is your wakeup call.

Treat that 11 million like it's the last time in your life anyone will ever hand you 11 million dollars.

Because it will be.

SB is a big hitter, who also racks up a lot of negative yardage. He was over-hyped coming into the league and the negative yardage criticism carried on when he became Pro. A lot of his dynamism with the Giants in the early years was the passing game. He had some explosive plays, but he never forced defenses out of zone like Zeke, who was moving chains, did.

ALL TALK, NO ACTION! This dude will come up lame sometime in training camp and probably won't see real game action until halfway through the season........................
He held out with almost no leverage and got a better deal. All he could get at this point. I believe he becomes the first franchised player to negotiate a better 1 year deal.

This may reset the market for franchised RBs seeing that the Giants did something that owners previously refused to do

So he's not playing on the tag which means he can get tagged again next year without the multiple tag penalty and compensation increase? And for essentially the same $$. Feels like insider trading.
Or he got an agreement not to tag him

I still haven't seen the actual numbers on the contract he signed. What is he guaranteed & does the "Up to $11m" include the $2m signing bonus?

The Giants threw him a bone so he would agree to come in. There was no agreement that the tag would not be used next season.

By signing a contract, does the giants get 3 more years of franchise tags since this is not an official franchise tag? Lol

Franchise tag is one of 2 things: either the current tag number or 20% more than than player made the previous season, whichever is higher.

So even though next year will only count as his first tag it’ll be over 13m$ because of this contract, which is slightly more than a second franchise tag would have been
He signed the tag. Next year would be the second.

A BETTER DEAL?????? This dude got the leftover scraps that the Giants were offering and because of him he has pretty much screwed his fellow RBs in the NFL who are trying to get better deals before the season starts.
