FRISCO, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys mourn the loss of former executive Gil Brandt who passed away at the age of 91 on Thursday morning.

Brandt served as the vice president of player personnel for the Cowboys from 1960 to 1988.

No one can say that Gil Brandt did not live his life to the fullest right to the end.

Brandt seemed like someone who would live forever. Amazing story to go from being a baby photographer to a very prominent member of the NFL scouting community. His ability to schmooze people and develop a network of college coaches to aid in scouting nationally was a tremendous boon to finding all of the talent that the Cowboys amassed from small schools over the years. No one did better in getting high quality contributors from the undrafted free agent market. Truly a revolutionary figure in the NFL and with the Cowboys specifically. Without Brandt, the combine may not have been the combine, and Sirius NFL Radio may not have gotten off the ground. RIP to a legend.
