Has Dallas earned Top 5 consideration?
KC is the only undefeated yet you wouldnt put them #1 right? 1-2 or not the boys should be a top 5 team and can be and some of us think are.

True. There is a lot of season left. But i think i will wait till the Boys have a winning record to put them into the top 5.

No.

I wouldn't.

I wouldn't rank solely on record, but that's just me.

I also wouldn't rank solely on the performance of 1 game, which is what people are doing with Dallas. You can say they outplayed the opponents but handing away games like they did against Washington and Chicago just isn't good football.

If Dallas plays another solid game this weekend and doesn't gift wrap a win to the other team, then maybe we can start edging them up. Maybe.

This season has the most parity I've ever seen. It's a dog fight in all the games.

1. Steelers
2. Jets
3. Ravens
4. Patriots
5. Cowboys

5. 49ers
4. Lions
3. Raiders
2. Bills
1. Panthers

1. Ravens: Great D and that offense has enough weapons for Flacco to have a chance in any game
2. Jets: Great D, Sanchise hasn't thrown a pick yet. 3-0 in their division already.
3. Pats: They're clicking on all phases of the ball.
4. Steelers: No Big Ben, no problem. Great D and Mendenhall is lights out.
5. Falcons: They're one Mendenhall run away from a 4-0 record. Very good team that came out a little more flat than they wanted to in Week 1.

Boys don't make my top 5 until they get a winning record and show me they can play without shooting themselves in both feet.

28. Cards: They got no passing game and barely what passes for a running game. I'm amazed they have two wins over trash teams, but they will be lucky to win one more.
29. 49ers: Got no identity, got no hope. They showed life last game but other than that, they need a ton of work.
30. Lions: They're "Hope for the Future" QB is out w/ injury. Megatron is the only bright spot but still they suck.
31. Panthers: Starting Clausen = rebuilding, almost got lucky vs. Saints (that's why Saints ain't anywhere near my top 5)
32. Bills: Horrible team with a chance to maybe win one game if they're lucky.

Thanks for getring everyone thinking Hos.

Why someone would begin with "I can't any list seriously..." is unfortunate.

I enjoyed the thread. Several people made good points. Atlanta looks like a team that's ready for a run. KC looks good for now but I think they will fade soon. I'm in agreement that a list shouldn't be based on record alone. Otherwise, we wouldn't have much to discuss.

Four weeks into it, I'm sticking with my prediction of a Dallas vs. NY Jets Super Bowl. I also believe there are more contenders in the AFC than in the NFC.

Thanks again to everyone! Love this board... most of the time:)

No. It would be extremely bias.
News flash, all lists based upon opinions are biased.

I know, I know, you were "just keeping it real yo."

I have been a total goof on the first 3 weeks. For the first time I am going to put who I think the best 5 teams and worst 5 teams really are.

Many will not agree with my lists. That is fine. I think some teams look good and aren't that good. I think some teams look bad and aren't that bad.

1. Packers. You have to go after Rodgers hard.

2. Patriots. Efficient without being careless.

3. Colts. A 59 yard FG is a fluke. They are tough.

4. Cowboys. Yes, I am serious. They can't shoot themselves in the foot though.

5. Saints. They are winning ugly. That won't last, they will dominate soon.

28. Lions. They could be 2-2 but they find ways to lose.

29. Cardinals. How they have 2 wins is a mystery. They suck.

30. Panthers. Now they've lost Steve Smith possibly? Awful.

31. 49ers. It shocks me to say this. I thought they had a great chance this year, but they suck.

32. Bills. Gag a maggot on a gut wagon.

I think it's good you were kind of a goof the first three weeks. It's too early to tell then anyways. It still kind of is, but we're starting to see some things regarding the NFL.

As far as your picks, I like how you don't just pick the teams with the best records, you pick the teams who are actually GOOD at football. I think many of us know but don't always realize there is a big difference, although the wins and losses are all that matter.

However I can't agree with that five. Mine are:

1. Green Bay -- Rodgers has become an elite quarterback, and their defense can be scary good. Like us though, they have to stop with the penalties and mistakes.

2. Pitt -- Their defense is absolutely unreal, and when Big Ben gets back that offense will really take off. Watch our for Mike Wallace, he is going to light things up once Ben gets back. He can really do some things out there. He's better than Santonio Holmes ever was in Pittsburgh.

3. Baltimore -- Flacco is emerging and finally Baltimore has some real threats at wide out. Their defense will still carry them though, even with major decencies at DB.

4. New England -- Their defense is the question mark, and you can never ever count out a Belichick coached defense. I'm not a "fan" of the guy, but I respect the hell out of what he does as a coach. Easily top three of all time in my opinion and arguably the best. IMO that cheating stuff is blown out of proportion. They also still have the most dangerous passing attack in the league.

5. Dallas -- The question here is do we stop beating ourselves consistantly. I don't know. I think we can, but this team has never, and I mean never shown us that they can consistantly stop beating themselves. Not to mention the fact that they might be the worst front-runners in the league. They play best backed into a corner with a me against the world mentallity. It is Wade's job to foster that mentality, because when this team plays to their potential, I'd move them up from 5 to number 2. Maybe even number one. They're that good, and I think all of us know it.

No, and other than those that follow the team, there is absolutely no reaon for them to be.

The Chargers are coming together nicely, I'd give them the nod over the Cowboys right now. When they get VJ back, I think they march to the Super Bowl.

Its alot easier to come up with 5 really bad teams than 5 really good teams.

The level of play just continues to deteriorate.

No argument from me on your worsts, but I have to tap the brakes a bit - Green Bay #1 in the league? I'd have to go with New England right now.

Top 5
Patriots
Colts
Cowboys
Packers
T5. Falcons/Saints

Bottom 5
Lions
Panthers
Cardinals
49ers
Bills - the absolute worst team in the league, and by a long way. Move this franchise to Toronto or Quebec already.

Didn't the Jets beat the Patriots by double digits?
Aren't the Jets 3-1 with their only loss being by one point to Baltimore (who is listed on several of the lists)?

How can they not be in the top 5, especially if you include the Patriots? They've beaten the same two teams the past two weeks. Is it because the Patriots looked so much better in those wins over the Bills and Dolphins? The margin of victory of both games combined Patriots: 35 Jets: 32.

I'm speaking in general terms here and not pointing out any specific lists, just not seeing the train of thought I guess since they've played each other, and have played pretty much the same same schedule thus far.

I just think by year's end they will be better. My top 5 is based on who I think will be there at year's end. Hence why Pittsburgh and the Jets and Chargers and Vikings are not there.

Top 5:
Saints - Still the champs even though media is looking for a reason to hate.
Steelers - Winning with D and ground game, impressive.
Jets - Again, winning with D and a ground game, Sanchez has looked improved. 3 - 0 in their division.
Colts - Manning will have them in it every year.
Ravens - They are playing very well and Flacco has been playing terrible to average.

Consider me one of the few that's unimpressed with the Packers. I know a lot of people are ready to bow down and worship them, but any semi good team they've played thus far, they've had problems with. They bearly won against the Eagles and if Vick had started they probably would have lost. Lost to Chicago and had a heck of a time with the Lions. They have zero ground game too. Their only convincing win is over the lowly Bills.

Bottom 5:

Lions - Best winless team in the league. ;)
Raiders - I like a bit of what I've seen from them this year, oddly enough. They need leadership.
49ers - They are what the Cards used to be, sexy playoff pick that ends up looking like imposters. They'll get it together some day.
Panthers - Who would have thought they'd miss Delhomme?
Bills - Awful.
