I haven't asked all year. Too fun not to ask now. Who are your best 5 and worst 5 in the NFL?

1. Seahawks. They are the Champs and beat Denver again. Gotta give them the respect they deserve.

2. Broncos. I still think they are the team to beat in the AFC.

3. Chargers. The team that might be able to is in their Division.

4. Cowboys. That's right, and when we beat number 1, we're going up while they come down.

5. Cardinals. They are for real. Pains me to say it.

28. Buccaneers. Lovie inherited junk. Don't think they will stay here next year, but this year pew.

29. Commanders. 7 of the last 9 years they have been the worst team in the NFC East. Make it 8 of 10 this year.

30. Jets. Vick can't save them. Geno can't save them. A lifeguard can't save them.

31. Jaguars. I think they will be better with Bortles, still not good.

32. Raiders. I don't think Dennis Allen was the problem.

I like your bottom 5. I don't have Dallas in the top 5. But I think we are top 12. Our inability to consistently pressure the QB prohibits me from viewing us as a top 5 team.

1. Seahawks. They still look like the best team in the league to me.

2. Broncos. Seems like they can beat anyone not named Seahawks. Have to get that run game going.

3. Chargers. This team is this close to being undefeated. They continue to impress even after multiple injuries.

4. Cardinals. This team will really be tough if and when they get a quarterback.

5. Colts. After a rough start, I think they're hitting their stride.

28. Vikings. Losing your star running back and starting quarterback hurts an already talent-starved team. The two former Cowboy coordinators have their work cut out for them.

29. Titans. I think a lot of Ken Whisenhunt, but he may have made the wrong decision choosing Tennessee over Detroit.

30. Jets. Things are getting really ugly in New York. Time to clean house. The WHOLE house.

31. Jaguars. Other than a good, young quarterback, not much to work with.

32. Raiders. The shadow of Al Davis still looms large. Still a train-wreck.

I don't care about the bottom five, so here's my top-ten...

1. San Diego - To be the man you gotta beat the man. They beat the man.
2. Seattle - The man got beat.
3. Denver - Peyton Manning + defense.

From here it gets tough....

4. New England - I pretty much discount games one through three. Pats look good. Gross.
5. Cincinnati - Good team. Needs to learn to win in prime time.
6. Dallas - Cowboys are similar to San Diego--with less defense.
7. Arizona - #7 without Palmer--and Stanton. With Palmer? We'll see. Maybe.
8. Green Bay - See #4.
9. Philly - Does up-tempo work in the NFL? Is Foles for real? Jury's still out. O'line and defense definitely suck. I hate Philly.
10. Indy - Andy Luck and improving defense makes the ponies tough.

Note: Dallas defense is only gonna get better. In this age of college pitch and catch, here's to big boy power football.

Isn't this about this year...history is not considered for present rankings. Get past that, this is a new year.

Not a new defense though.

And that's the part that many of us are concerned about - and rightly so.

A few respectable performances aren't enough to erase the recent history of epic failures.

It's a good start, but they have to maintain it to restore faith.

It's so weird to think that the San Diego Chargers are in the conversation for best team in the NFL.

1. Seattle, until we beat them....:)
2. Denver
3. SD
4. Dallas....we been consistent
5. Cincinnati
6. Arizona....I know it's top 5, but they are very close to my 5th, had to mention them.

28. Tennessee...wanted to say Washington [27th], but they played Seattle hard, and Titans blew a home 26 point lead to the Browns...
29. TB...based on their record only, really may put them at 27 [Commanders then to 26], but a come back win it Pittsburgh and took the Saints into OT on the road.
30. Jets...just pathetic really
31. Jacksonville...but they show some fight here and there
32. Oakland...they have no fight...

Oh yes it is a new defense. How many guys on that D never took a snap in Dallas before this year? Come on.

Melton, T. McClain, R. McClain, Mincey, Hitchens, J. Crawford, Bishop, Coleman, Toomer, Spillman, Patmon.

Not to mention guys who are back from injury that weren't here last year. T. Crawford and Spencer. Plus guys in a new position, Wilber.

That equates to not new to you? Seriously?

Granted, but I don't think you can make an accurate prognosis on what a team is until at least week 10, until then it is still too early in the season to say if it is just a good start or if a team is "for real". So taking in last year or not, I'm not ready to say we are a top 5 team yet. Beat Seattle in Seattle and I will say we are. For now, I will say that recent history has me cautiously optimistic, emphasis on cautiously.

Oh, I agree with this. I have said in other posts that I usually don't get a good feel until week 8 to 10.
But I was just going with the theme of the OP, as through 5 weeks.

They haven't impressed me at all. They needed the refs to hand them a win vs. Indy.

I have not been impressed either.
Refs help, and ST's, a defensive TD or 2, blocked punts for TD's, Sproles....
Offense has not done much, except a 2nd half against the Jaguars...

Yes - but they are still winning which really stinks. They will be better once they get the OL guys back. Man I wish they were 1-4.

If we somehow were to beat Seattle and go to 5-1, that would be something

New faces doesn't automatically = improvement.

I'll reiterate my stance, the defense has been better than I had expected, but they still have moments where it looks like they aren't even on the field. Look no further than the 4th quarter of our most recent game for evidence of that.

And until they prove they can have more consistency, I'll continue to have my doubts.
