hen: no worries, i read the forums on iphone/tablet sometimes... it can be hard to follow.

btw, i think i like dallas' actual draft more than any of the real re-drafts... including my own.

...at least until we see floyd get 8 sacks be the defensive rookie of the year, lol.

can't take frederick at 47, he was gone at 31. thats cheating! lol.

Other than that nice haul for sure!
While I hated the trade at the time, it sure looks to have been of value when total draft hauls are considered.

BTW, Jesse Williams has a pretty big injury concern with his knees. That's why he fell so insanely far.

This!

ANd I think Frederick would have been there at 47, but even not... I'd have been EXTREMELY happy with this draft.

31- C/OG Travis Frederick (extreme nastiness says it all)

47- FS/Slot corner Tyrann Mathieu (better playmaker & hitter than Webb)

74 - OT/OG/blocking TE Terron Armstead (too versatile & too athletic to pass up)

80- 1 tech DT Brandon Williams (too many what ifs at this position)

114- WR Kenny Stills (tough, more reliable route runner & hands, just flat out faster than Williams)

151- RB/KR Kenjon Barner (more explosive playmaker)

185- SS/SLB Cooper Taylor (more experienced than Wilcox; more size, speed & upside than Holloman)

Eifert or floyd round 1
Frederick round 2
Everything else was strong. I would liked to see them take a qb in the fourth

Alternatively I would have traded down from 31 again or would have not traded for only a third

I'm still taking Frederick at 31 here and then Williams at 74. Armstead probably won't start this year, which means we'd still have the same problems on the OLine

Without taking the time to look through every player that was available, I would have stayed at 19 and taken pugh or floyd. I wouldn't have taken a tight end in the 2nd round, and I wouldn't have taken a safety who is as raw as this kid is.
Pugh was the biggest reach in the draft, IMO. What good are quick feet if you have minimal anchor strength and very short arms. We all see how well quick feet and minimal anchor strength have worked out for David Arkin.

Exactly the same as the Cowboys draft with the following exceptions:

Trade for #34 and a 5th round pick instead of #31. I would still draft Frederick if available.

The only reason for this change is so that nobody refers to Frederick as a 1st round pick. I get tired of the yammering about the Cowboys drafting a player with a 2nd round grade in the 1st round. Does it really matter that they drafted Frederick at #31 instead of #34. Jerry says that they wanted it to be a 1st rounder to take advantage of the 5th year contract option for 1st round picks.

OMG to all the people that took Warford in the 2nd. He wasn't selected till the 3rd pick in the 3rd round. What a reach! Ahhhhh!

Take the trade

31: Jonathan Cyprien, FS starter
47: Kevin winter, OG starter
74: Brian schwenke, OC starter
80: D Moore or Jordan Hill, DT/DE DL rotation
114: B Webb, CB 4 th cb
151: J randle, RB
185: J Kruger, DE DL rotation
Trade next years 6th for high 7th: Reid Fragel, OT competes with Parnell and allows us to release Free after June 1

This solves problems at safety and OL
Provides great depth at DL with future starters
Solves back up RB and 4th CB issues

I don't know if this has been mentioned, because I don't feel like reading the whole thread. But the problem with this exercise when people do it, is that you don't know how changing a pick would effect the series of events. For example, you may want to pick Cyprien with the 31st pick. Well that means that the Jags will have to change their pick 2 picks later, and a team 2 picks after them may have to change their pick, etc...

Just throwing that out there.

No offense, but this draft is pretty awful. I much prefer what the cowboys did.

I don't take offense at blind homerism, I pity it

What's pitiful is that you have the luxury of hindsight and still reached on several picks. That takes talent.

Of course you did, except on draft day you were plugging OL after the first until the Cowboys picked a TE, WR and S then you loved the picks. Then you posted there was still a lot of OL value as the draft progressed until, of course, the Boys didn't pick OL then you jumped on board the bandwagon.

After the first you would have been happy with "Warford and a RB" until the Boys went TE, WR and S and, of course, you jumped on the wagon again.

See a pattern?

You plugged Moore and Schwenke during the draft and now it's "hindsight" and "pitiful" when someone else would have done it because, well, the Boys didn't pick them.

It's OK to be a homer but do you realize that most of your posts are these silly "your post sucks" comebacks and insults in response to any question someone may have about our draft?

While this is the net and no one really gives a hoot, there's a thing called intellectual integrity. Some people don't change their tune after the draft when all they've been talking all off-season has been line help and beefing up the trenches. On the other hand, all you've done is change your position to match the player and position the team drafted.

As was already posted, we took more punters and QB's than we did lineman, even when one was supposedly rated 7th on our draft board but somehow, come draft day and after millions spent scouting, he didn't seem to fit our scheme at #18, value be damned.

We paid 50 million for one corner and gave up a second last year to move up and draft another. Then we bring in 8 more defensive backs between the draft and UFA's. These should raise some valid questions when we've got legitimate concerns on both sides of the line.

You can now go back to insulting without the backbone to produce any type of articulate response. If I didn't know any better, I'd think you work for the Cowboys or at least bucking for a job wearing a skirt and waving pom poms on the sideline during gameday.
