It's like listening to mock drafts in January. Nobody has a clue how it's going to shake out come September. After 4 years of Parcell's, a fresh approach with a younger coaching staff and a talented underachieving team can be a recipe for success even with mediocre coaching.

I think Wade is a competent guy who has the respect of the players in the league. If he just upgrades the pass rush, FS and RG he could probably squeeze out four more wins.

I am pretty underwhelmed. Wade Phillips was pretty uninspiring as a head coach. That's the difference between grading his hiring and draft picks. He's already proven (twice) that he is a mediocre head coach.

Parcells historically speaking proved he was a great coach with a lot of playoff apearances and wins, even superbowls.

What did that past have to do with us? Nothing, he was 0-2 in the playoffs as a Cowboy.

I am tired of people playing the history card.

Would you people rather hire a younger guy who has ZERO playoff wins AND ZERO HC experience.

Actually, he was pretty good with what he had in Buffalo. The owner (Old man Wilson) submarined him there by making him bench Flutie in the playoffs. But he was still a playoff coach. What's not mediocre? 45-12. I bet there's not alot of coaches with that kind of record sitting around eating chips on the couch.

But your ENTIRE arguement is based on history.

At least Wade Phillips knows the 3-4 defense and can improve it which is what was needed.

Our offensive scoring was one of the tops in the league.

I'm giving the guy a chance. I don't have unrealistically high expectations for him (or any other coach for that matter), though anything less than 9-7 is an abject failure unless we have a rash of injuries.
