First stop the quarterbacks got to be put into a system that fits his skill set.
They began doing this when doc was a rookie they installed plays that he was comfortable with and he produced flawlessly the kid had touch on his passes went deep when it was there. You had incredible touch dropping balls over the linebackers. I never knew what play was coming and neither did the defense.
This year that all changed Thanks to Scotty and the flame-haired clap machine.

I guess where I'm going is get a guy in here to install an offense that works for Dak and give him the third year I believe the raw tools are there.

Dak sets multiple records in his first year of play and plays lights out. Year 2 his OL plays much worse by all accounts, has the best RB in the league out for over a third of the season and you have WR's dropping balls like they were soaked in grease. Thank you very much to those of you who are willing to wait until year 3 to make a decision on Dak. Very genius of you.

Dak fail into one honey of a good situation that did not require him to learn good NFL QB techniques. This year is his rookie year because he did NOT have all those great pieces in place. He had to learn that those bad habits that were not trained off of him last year are not going to work in the NFL. The really bad thing was he did not have a great QB coach to teach him the NFL way. The biggest acquisition this off seasons is a great QB coach and a good OC who can work the schemes to Dak's skills.

Tom Landry did not say give every player three years. That would be ridiculous to waste all that time with guys who clearly can't play. He was saying players you believe in. They need to show you by year 3 why they believe in you.

I don't need 3 years with this QB. He lacks talent. You don't acquire talent over time.

Even as bad as he was this year, Dak absolutely deserves a clean slate going into next year. If we're still in this same spot next year, he has to go.

Lol your post is garbage. You mention Dak slobberers being focused on stat totals, and then you list stats to back up your claim.

Dak was playing well overall the first half of the year. Especially for a second year QB.

The team was 5-3. He had a 5:1 TD to Int ratio. And he was making clutch plays when needed.

Again, for a second year QB. Not saying he was playing like Brady or Rodgers. But he was playing well for a second year QB.

Then the wheels fell off after the coaching staff and Chaz Green tried killing him against Atlanta.

Dak isn't going anywhere this coming year.
My guess is that its not even a remote discussion.

Just point to out something though....tne article said 30 starts and has already exceeded that

As much as it’s sucked, I think getting exposed, struggling so badly and having the fans turn on him so quickly will be a good thing for Dak. Harsh wake up call that favor is fleeting and Cinderella can turn back into a pumpkin at any moment.

And a fourth year, unless he bombs in 2018 with all 5 starters on the Oline playing as well as Zeke.

JJ will want to account for the variables this year that were the Zeke suspension and Smith being hurt.

There are many fans here who think we are a playoff team with a healthy Smith and Zeke playing 16 games.

JJ I would bet believes the same thing.

Whats Romo have to do with this? He was a a lower division developmental player when he entered the league. His objective was just to make the team at that stage.
It said give them 30 starts. The comp would he after both players had that

Anyway, the discussion here is about Dak starting and excelling right now at it.

Can Dak do it next year and beyond?
    I think /hope so.

I like Dak, the person...I like Dak, the player....but, I DO NOT LIKE Dak the player with the current coaches and scheme...instead of showing this youngen how to be an NFL QB, they conform to a lazy brand of football and become predictable...Dak lasts with this team only if the rest of the offense stays healthy and/or, there is a serious change in the coaching staff

Note: I am on board with having competition at the QB position....no more mamby-pamby nonsense in protecting Dak....get someone that can actually win the position and you will see Dak work harder to keep his spot...it seems he is a student, but you don't graduate if your teachers can't teach...so, competition and coaching and I am happy to keep Dak thru year 4 (let alone for next year)...

Note 2: We may not see any of the top 4 QB's being there when we draft in mid-Round 1, but I like the fire of Mayfield and would welcome him at our pick (as of right now)...I am not sold on Darnold...Allen and Rosen intrigue me

Johnny Football™ only got 2 years. Can't believe Jerry hasn't brought him in, given how much he wanted to draft him. Veteran minimum. If he so much as looks at someone the wrong way, cut him.
If nothing else, it wouldn't be boring. :muttley:

Well we are. We'd be in the playoffs now ( if Carolina wins tomorrow) if the the coaches kept running the ball against Seattle. The Cowboys were peaking in that KC game when Zeke got suspended. Now I don't think we're a SB team but we could be in the playoffs. Not that hard although Garrett seems to miss them a lot.

I didn't check but, this being a "Dak" thread, there were probably 3 to 4 obligatory, pro-Romo references made before my post. I'll stop "living in the past" as soon as the #neverforgetromo guys do. It's probably going to take 2-3 years before we can discuss the QB position without bringing up Romo, though.
Wentz played in a "lower division", too, and likely started less games than Antonio. Wentz started game 1.

The "first 30 starts" theory is neat, but if you look at QBs that have successfully broken into the league, you'll probably find that their success in those first 2 seasons depended heavily on their surrounding talent/scheme/coaching.

Do I think that Dak will ever be a better passer than Romo was, whether he sat the bench for 3 years or not? No.
Do I think that had Romo started in 2003/2004, he would've played better than Dak? No.

They're different QBs, just like all that came before them. Dak might not be the future, but we've got to let go of Romo. It was hard for me to let go of Aikman but I eventually overcame that complex and moved on.

I said focused on stat “totals”, learn to read. You can’t look at totals until the end of the season because at any single point in time each team has only played a fraction of their schedule. Sure enough once the hard games kicked in Dak struggled and now he’ll be lucky to even meet last year’s paltry 23 TDs, with triple the amount of interceptions.
You don’t get to make up your own troll reality. He was not playing well at all. I know it makes you look bad to say that, since you are basically someone’s sock puppet who has been pumping him up from the beginning of the season. Don’t make me dig up your outlandish posts and put them out there for everyone to laugh at. Don’t worry, it’ll all be over soon and you can change your avatar and cornball name into whoever the next poor sap they trot out there is.

Really depends on who it is and who falls with in reach of our pick. Id love Josh Allen or Baker, BUT both offenses are predicated on quick Under 10 yard passes with quick WR that get YAC OR the long bomb based off play action. SO much of the NFL is intermediate IN and Out routes which i have not see either do on a consistent bases from there offenses. I would like to see them in Senior and E/W Schriner games to see what they can do in a more pro style offense before i'd spend a 1st pick on them.

The point was that they were saying you cant honestly judge an NFL QB until they have had at least 30 NFL starts. They preferred those starts be with good players too.
Dak and Wentz both HAVE had 30+ starts.
You brought up Romo when he had exactly zero.
It seemed out of place, for this particular question, that's all.

    I'm still pro Dak, btw.
Never thought he'd be a superstar, but did (and still do) think he can be a soild long term starter.
Have to admit, Im slightly more skeptical than I was.
