Glad Doug Free hurt Reed Doughty and not Miles Austin

I absolutely love Free's hustle.

I may not be the most athletic of sorts (hence my play on the Oline versus other positions) but when a ball is intercepted like that and you have to make a play to save the completion a a real game changer, I have always prided myself in making that play. I've made a few bone jarring hits on the sidelines to stop a scampering DB or LB that thought they could get the angle on me since all they saw was "that big Olineman trying to get to them". As much as I hate INTs, the satisfaction of getting to that guy is incredibly fun. :D

I think Colombo's injury was a blessing in disguise as we got to see what we had in Doug Free. He is a player and is making the most of his chance.

Free also knocked a Saints DB (Gay?) out of commission a week before. He's a DB killah!

There was a pass play where Jenkins was trying to make a tackle and Sensabaugh laid the wood down and the receiver ducked under his shoulder pad.

It hit Jenkins and sent him flying out of the picture.

Remember that?

Then Sensabaugh leapt up and started toward where Jenkins was - which was off-screen.

My heart was in my throat until I saw Jenkins trotting to the defensive huddle.

I like the fire in our players and hitting and knocking people down.

I like it better when the people are the other guys.

I remember that vividly. I was hoping Hamlin didn't knock out our best CB in Jenkins.

By the way, you don't have to worry about Hamlin hitting Newman. Newman usually isn't anywhere near the ball carrier to make a tackle.

I think he's a really good RT, Colombo might have a hard time beating him out next year.

Up until the Green Bay game, Colombo was our best lineman. I don't think Free is going to be up for his job.

I'll never understand why people persist with stupid comments like this. It's not factual. It makes you look like a child.

He hasn't played his best lately, that's obvious....but why the vitriol? He plays his *** off, and has been an oustanding player for us for years now. Why hate him, and make yourself look like an *** in the process?

you guys are forgetting that before Robert Brewster was hurt, he was the backup RT, and was receiving alot of rave reviews from the coaches, esp. Houck

Free only moved to RT out of necessity

LT is his spot

He will not get much stronger if at all after THREE YEARS IN A PROFESSIONAL WEIGHT PROGRAM. He MUST refine his technique (or more honestly learn better how to hold without getting caught). Hand and arm movement, how to balance and move, and so on.

IF he does have a mean streak that is a very good thing. Colombo was the ONLY guy who had one up to now. I would love to have 5 mean vicious and nasty guys on the O line.

he doesn't have to be Hulk Hogan out there

if he keeps his leverage, he should be fine, but if he lets a player get under his shoulder pads, then it's over

you could say that for pretty much any offensive lineman, even Bigg Davis, but more so for the "finesse" OTs like Free

Either you haven't watched any Cowboy games this year or last year, or you watched the games with your homer blinders on.

How many missed tackles last night by Terri Newman? Pathetic!

Newman stinks!!! You loving his effort doesn't change the fact that Newman is the most overated CB in the league today. And his lame attempts at tackles is pathetic ang getting old.

It's just easier to put you on ignore. Arguing with logic like this is pointless.

I agree. It is pointless for you. Your blind homerism is no match for my reality-based logic.

You can continue watching your "How to tackle" videos by Terri Newman.

Until last night, I think the general consensus was that Terence had actually improved his play in run defense. I certainly recall a number of places during the season where he played screens and outside runs very, very well.

Newman gets zeroed in on his coverage responsibility, where and how hard he is to press a receiver, and doesn't respond flexibly to play types and keys. So he'll get burned on screens and quick outs that he should have read. Also doesn't seem to be all that instinctive in zone, but without game tape and the benefit of knowing what defense was actually called, DB play is so difficult to assess. I really feel like a great, cerebral safety to better orient our defensive backfield could rejuvenate Newman and elevate Jenkins to the top echelon of corners.
