Glenn Trying to Kiss and Make Up?

Here's the question I would pose to Terry Glenn. Do you really have faith in your knee or are you just blowing smoke? If, as you say, the knee is fully healed and the doctors can pull it, twist it or whatever and it won't hurt, then what's your problem? If you are so sure the knee will last the year then you are also sure you will get your $1.7 million, so just sign the contract. What do you have to lose?

Or, are you just blowing smoke?

I wish I could get $500,000 for a salary for my job...never the less $5,000,000 to be at work 4 full days

Glenn can't get off of the pot because Jerry's tied him to it!

The team won't let Glenn practice unless Glenn signs what Jerry tells Glenn to sign. And, for now, if Glenn refuses to sign what he's told to sign, the team won't release Glenn.

So for now, basically, Glenn is being held to a contract that the team refuses to honor.

And he goes into TC and messes up that bad knee again on the 1st play. Now JJ is on the hook for the 1.72 million.

DO YOU FOLLOW?

Say JJ allows him to practice. Terry then goes out on the 1st play in TC and totally messes up his bad knee again. It lingers and festers and he can't play when the season starts.

What don't you understand about a man protecting himself? That is all JJ is doing?

Do you normally give away guaranteed millions to a horse with a suspect leg right before a race?

No! You don't. I see nothing wrong w/ JJ wanting some sort of protection.

Again - Terry revived his career in Dallas and the Cowboys have MORE than paid him well.

If I were JJ I would stick w/ the 500k or let Terry go if he won't sign it.

There's a really good joke I could make, but I'm going to leave it alone... :D

"These words and comments coming from me were strictly frustration, knowing football season is right around the corner and I don't know if my future is here, there or anywhere. I'm ready to give 100 percent. I just want to know if this is going to be my home."

This is why you hire an agent, so when things like this happen you just say "Talk to my agent about it."

Sounds to me like he's not very confident in his knee himself. But just think what kind of message it's sending to all the other teams that might be interested in him at this point. If he doesn't sign this tender with us and prove to the world, let alone us, that his knee is back to near-100%, what is that saying? Who would honestly take a chance on him for a good sum of money when he won't even nibble at the plate that's right in front of him?

Jerry is smart on this and he HAS to stick his ground. Allow Terry to make his own bed, whichever way he so chooses.

My guess, if he doesn't sign with us, and if Parcells doesn't immediately swoop him up, that not many other teams will show too much interest and it could be the end of Glenn's career.

There could also be an invisible angle noone is yet seeing... Such as how determined our interest for one of the big 3 WRs that want to come here really is. He could be facing a pay cut AND a demotion down to #3. And it could be closer than any of us could ever imagine. Something Glenn may know, and something he may not beable to talk about.

He had an agent... and it sounds like one who wasn't doing his job.

Terry Glenn got $5 million in a roster bonus last year due to a contract re-up and only played 4 plays. Terry Glenn also gave Jerry Jones 1,000 yard production for two consecutive years for a song compared to what other back to back Pro Bowl WR's make. Both Jerry and Glenn have "stole" enough money from one another in the last 5 years to call it even. The past is the past and completely irrelevant to the subject at hand. I don't know why people keep bringing it up over and over again. It's all water under the bride.

I understand Jerry wanting to cover himself, but I have to say the hardball way he's going about it is very "un-Jerry" like. It sounds like something Mike Brown would do. And on the other hand, Glenn is doing himself no favors by going about this unrepresented by a credible agent. He's coming across as rather bush league himself firing off text messages like he did yesterday. That's why you hire an agent, so you can let him handle things like this publically AND behind the scenes so you don't have to get your hands dirty and air out dirty laundry to the media.

Nobody can be "100% confident" in how the knee is going to hold up ... either Jerry or Glenn. But evidently Jerry is optimistic enough that he doesn't want to release Glenn, and Glenn is optimistic enough to play another year and publically dare Jerry to release him. I don't see why they have to squabble over a few hundred thousand. When you take the likelihood of trades, a young WR stepping up, etc. etc. .. .I still think Terry Glenn is our best shot of getting big time production from the #2 WR spot.

Agree... It almost makes me wonder if Jerry thought Terry could have come back earlier than he did last year.

Yeah, I don't think Jerry's ever been in a position where he paid someone $5 million for a handful of plays. Usually Jerry freely compensates those that play hard, but not for those that don't play at all, so I don't think this is "out of bounds" for Jerry at all.

Terry should just sign the 500K deal and get on with it.... he got 5 mill for nothing last year, lets move on this year.

Don't get injured on that knee, and you make 1.7 mill..... Sounds more than fair to me.

If you don't sign, then bye.

Too late. The rye has been cast. And drunk.

Even if she signs, there are the nagging questions about his knee.
And he's 34.
And he did an Ellis on the team.
And he refuses to sign the injury settlement paper.
And . . . and the Cowboys need to start thinking about their future. Having an aging Glenn whose knee could give out "the next step" is not doing the young'uns any favors. Practice the young'uns, play the young'uns. I'm tired of coddling the aged and infirm at the expense of the youngsters, who are ultimately our future.

I agree. We need to rescind offer and simply cut him...he is of no value due to his fragile health and lack of leadership. We need to move on to the younger players...

A guy puts up 2 1000 yard seasons and he should be treated as if he belongs in the Ring of Honor? In 2003 and 2004, he had 754 yards and 400 yards respectively with the Cowboys. In 2004 he played 6 games. In 2001 and 2002, prior to the Cowboys, he had 204 yards and 817 yards.

Jerry Jones doesn't owe this guy anything. Terry Glenn owes the Cowboys for resurrecting his career.

He has posted 1000 yards 4 times in his career out of 11 years. Only 3 times in his career has he ever played 16 games. He very rarely plays a full season, and on top of that, the type of injury he has is beyond what he has ever had.

Yes. That's exactly what I was saying. :laugh2:

By your standards, the Ring of Honor would have already encircled the planet 4 times.

I say put Crazy Ray, Steve Pelleur and Ron Fellows in the ROH.

I really can't believe people feel Terry stole money last year, because he was injured. He and the team signed a contract and both sides had to honor it. He may have only played "4 plays" or whatever, but he also had two surgeries, rehab and I bet a lot of pain and suffering to go along with that. He even opted for the medically more risky surgical option so he could try to play again and help the team. Have any of you guys ever been on workers' comp? Were you stealing money while you were collecting it? :(

Jerry is being cheap and not only that his behavior with the #2 WR position this offseason has been bizarre to say the least. He talked up Glenn like he was the second coming of Jerry Rice and the answer to our #2 receiver dilenma. Then he winks at the camera on drat day when discussing the possibility of trading for Roy Williams, Boldin or CJ and then he trys to low ball Glenn even though there has been no hint of trade in the works since draft day confused:
