If I got paid 5 million for 4 plays last year, myself personally , would feel obligated to get my butt on the field and earn some of last years money.I would let this years money take care of itself by signing the dang waiver. That's just me .

if a team was willing to pay me 5 million for 4 plays why are they lowballing me when I am trying to play much much more than that?

Maybe Jerry can work out something like he did with Greg last year. This needs to be resolved one way or the other

But that's only 1.25 million a play?!? No wonder he fired his agent!

Comparatively speaking, the amount they're bickering over is fairly small.

What Jerry needs to do is decide whether he wants Glenn on the team or not.

If you need him, do it.

If you don't, then don't.

It may hinge on the development of the young receivers, whom I'm sure Jerry has been eye-balling during these camps the past month or so.
Work the phones, create other options, then act on your best option.

This is about "how bad do you want it."

Jerry, do you want a Super Bowl trophy bad enough to pay the price of a trade to make it happen? Or are you willing to say that this roster w/ or w/o Glenn gives you the best shot at that goal? Follow through with whatever you think gets the team there.

Terry, do you want a Super Bowl ring before you retire? Is that more important to you than the paycheck? If not, are you willing to leave this team and gamble that another team will feel better about your knee and open their wallet to you? Is that team (read Dolphins) a better chance at this ring for you? Follow through with whatever you think gets you to your goal.

Come on guys, how bad do you want it?

There's the key part of the equation.

if he plays 10 plays based on previous patterns, we got a bargain, even at his current pay he is due. relatively speaking of course.

I am more confused than ever. He was okay with this deal at $385k, but isn't okay with it at $500k?

I must be missing something, like his surgeon saying the odds of a re-injury are higher than previously suspected.

Take out a huge insurance policy, sign the deal, and try and win a Super Bowl.

I'd say from his comments and the fact he fired his agent he felt hustled.

Agree to new deal that hands you all the risk and it shows up even lower than you accepted.

Now it sounds like he doesn't wanna pick a fight with Jerry which is a great thing. Cooler heads should prevail. Give the guy 600K and call it a day with faces saved all around.

I am usually on the players side during contract disputes but I haven't seen (assuming that the alledged 40k shadeyness is untrue) Dallas try to stick it to Glenn on this. Most teams wouldn't even limit it to it only being the SAME injury that occurs. This seems very fair on Dallas' part and Glenn did make a huge pay day last season. There is a middle ground somewhere and I will be happy to see them find it, but both parties have good reasoning. Unfortunately, I think 500k is fair so my opinion will be bias..

Glenn said he reluctantly agreed to the deal but noticed the figure had been reduced to $345,000 when he received the documents to sign. When Glenn inquired as to why the offer had been reduced by $40,000, he said he was told that it was the lowest the Cowboys could offer under the collective bargaining agreement.

Glenn rejected the deal, fired his agent and has since been representing himself. The Cowboys eventually increased their injury-waiver offer to the current $500,000.
Seems like Jerry did more than enough to appease him on that $40k. Time to **** or get off the pot, Terry.

This whole thing stinks. Why is Jerry doing this? Terry busted his butt to rehab for last year, and this is what he gets for it?

No ..... he got 5 million for 4 plays.

Is Terry's doctor just outright lying about the knee? I can't see that.

If the knee can pass a physical, let him play. If it can't, release him. That simple.

This is all salvageable.

345k vs 385k vs 500k ? This is not about he differences in that money to either side. This is about treating each other right in the process. Glenn to his credit has now offered the olive branch.

The next move is up to Jerry. I honestly don't know why Jerry wouldn't say yes immediately. If he changes his mind based on what he sees in camp, cut him loose then.

That said. I'm not going to agonize either way. But I would prefer Glenn get the opportunity he wants here.

Didn't the organization get pretty good value for the $ prior to Glenn's extension once TO came on board? Its quite possible that Glenn looks at the $ he received in 2007 as make-up for previous years and doesn't feel an obligation at all going forward.

They picked Glenn of the scrape pile 5 years ago and have paid him well every year since.

in 2004 he only played 6 games ..... he was still paid ....

in 2007 he only played 1 game ..... he got 5 million.

Are you honestly trying to say Glenn has been underpaid and has reason to resent the Cowboys?

Glenn can't get off of the pot because Jerry's tied him to it!

The team won't let Glenn practice unless Glenn signs what Jerry tells Glenn to sign. And, for now, if Glenn refuses to sign what he's told to sign, the team won't release Glenn.

So for now, basically, Glenn is being held to a contract that the team refuses to honor.

I see TG is changing course because somebody finally convinced him that he isn't going to get anything from other teams...

BTW, his story makes no sense, considering 500,000 is more than what he originally claimed he was asked to sign, unless oh course the collective bargaining agreement changes were implemented since...

That's one part. But it sounds like he's upset about the differences in pay if he blows out the right knee vs the surgically repaired left knee. Right knee = full pay. Left knee = 1/3 pay.

There's a middle ground somewhere in there, just no idea what it should be.

What do you pay him if he blows out his middle knee?
