Goalline offense? JG says pass, pass, pass

if Dak is audibling out of runs on common-sense run downs then Garrett needs to get on his butt. Somebody also needs to tell Linehan that Zeke needs to be in on 3rd and short and not some other back. I cannot understand why we would have Murray out on 3rd downs and he would nearly always convert, but we pull Zeke. Please draft a powerhouse back next year so that on 3rd and short, if Zeke isn't in, we'll have some guy that can get behind that big o line and fall forward for 2 yards. No more finesse garbage on 3rd and shorts.

Well in normal circles, that would be the HC. But apparently in Dallas, Garrett doesn't have that power. So I guess the only person who can tell Linehan what he needs to change or what he wants done is either God or Jesus Christ.

Because apparently Garrett isn't really responsible for dictating what he wants to his coordinators. Dallas has this unique three headed structure where when things go bad, it's the coordinators fault since they are responsible for that, but when things go well, you best get down on your knees and worship the red headed golden calf.

I did not see this mentioned, but why is it after the Butler pass reception we didn't just run it down their throats? I have seen this too many times. We end up settling for a FG! Why!? I say run, run, run! It just irks me that with this offense, JG still wants to throw the ball in too many of these situations. Thoughts?
I was yelling at the tv run the ball run the ball!!! Go Cowboys

Garrett gives Linehan the latitude to call the plays and Dak has the option to check out of them depending on how the defense is matching up. Stop blaming Garrett for these snafus, he should give the OC the independence to call the plays. The disconnect is between Linehan's philosopy and Dak's execution... those two things leaves enough margin of error that we get what we saw week 1. When inside the 5 yard line they decided to force the ball to Dez and didn't have the flexibility to option out of that and run the ball. Zeke most likely would have pounded the rock in the endzone with 3 plays to do it, I agree but Linehan wants to get everyone involved.

Whoever is calling the plays it does get annoying when we refuse to run the ball when it is working. It stalled out when Morris went in every time

It's not an agenda. It's reality. Garrett has control over Linehan and Marinelli. If something isn't working or isn't right in Garrett's eyes, he has the ability to tell his coordinator to change it up. If Linehan wants to run a flea flicker on first and goal from the 2 inch line, Garrett has the ability to yell into the head set for someone to check if Linehan is having a stroke.

The end responsibility is the HCs. It's amazing how people want to insulate him from criticism by pretending that somehow, he's not responsible for game plans and play calls during games but then get pissy when people don't fawn all over him for the great game plans and calls made in big wins.
A wouldn't call a fade pass a flea flicker
If Dak doesn't miss on pass to dez the team scores and all is well
If dez catches the fade you have a td
Anytime a play doesn't work you can question the call if you want but the reality of Sunday is a few poorly timed penalties stopped drives more than play calling
I would have ran on first down myself but I see the logic in passing because they are very tough in the middle of the dline

You have arguably the best oline in football, you have arguably the best rb. You have 3 downs. There is ZERO reason not to run at least once, if not twice. I think they were trying to get cute and catch the giants off guard with a pass play or something. When you have that artillery, on short situations, sometimes you just need to POWER your way in. All of this finesse football on short downs with our personnel is foolishness. They didn't do this sort of thing with Demarco Murray. I wonder if they look at Elliott as less capable of being an 'always forward' back than Murray?

To be honest, I wouldn't mind using up to a 2nd rounder on another back so that whenever they randomly pull Elliott out of the game, our offense doesn't completely stall... and I want this to be a powerful, bruiser back so that Linehan isn't tempted to stuff a finesse guy who they obviously are going to try some trick play with on 3rd down.

I campaigned for Mixon or an equivalent back early in this draft but we didn't take one. McFadden is good but is getting older and more brittle. Morris sucks.

I wasn't calling the fade pattern a flea flicker.

I was painting a hypothetical to highlight how silly it is when people argue Garrett has no responsibility for plays called on the field. He's the head coach. If his coordinator wants to do something stupid in a game, Garrett has the ability to tell his OC to get his head out of his *** and do something else.

I have no confidence in this coaching staff. They are fine when they have a lead or winning by quite a margin, but in close tough games they are scary. They screwed us in the playoff game last year overthinking and getting cute. How many third and 2's were in that game? What do they do?, they go for a pass and what is worse at times they tried going long on those passes. Once again Sunday night, they try to get cute at the goal line and it cost us a TD. Run Zeke damit!!!

This has always been Red's Achilles Heel, he loves to throw the ball inside the ten. I remember in his first year he threw the same slant pass three times for incompletions. So frustrating, especially when we have the best power runner in the game. He is a DOPE.

Linehan calls the plays, not Garrett.
