Who are some NFL QBs that you think his arm is as strong or stronger than?

I'll give a over or under QB: Eli Manning

Goff is a lot like Matt Ryan.

As far as arm strength goes I would say he's way under on Ryan..

As far as QB comparisons I think he is Bradford but doesn't freak out as bad under pressure.

Goff and Ryan's arms are basically the same. Ryan has a good, not great arm. Where both players shine is on anticipation throws and ball placement.

All I care about is accuracy and decision making. He checks out on both of those. And his arm strength is fine to be honest. I was against taking a qb at #4 but if he's there I take him.

Listening to NFL XM this morning they are saying Goff has some dietary issues that are easy to fix and should allow him to put on some more size.

Listen as long as it's not Brad Johnson bad he'll be ok. And no way on Pennington lol stop it.

Here's what I see, dude has great feet, a very quick release, and good pocket awareness and escapability. He is late on a ton of throws, I think this is due to not actually reading the defense. I think he scans the field and waits for someone to flash open and his quick release saves him. This could also be an explanation for his less than perfect spiral as mechanics go out the window when your late and have to fire in before the DB closes. I really don't care about arm strength you don't get many 40 yard plus shots anyway and he has enough for a deep out or post corner. Arm strength is the least of my concerns with him.

Dietary issues... He's a picky eater. Chicken Fingers all day

I watched him with great detail this weekend and, to me, he "doesn't drive the ball" well.
I don't know if it is an overall "arm strength" issue, because he seemed to throw the ball down field without much issue or prolongated windup.

He seemed to throw with exceptional anticipation, throwing to spots and not to guys. In a combine setting, without familiarity with your receivers, I found that impressive.

All and all, I think he is a good QB prospect and has a ceiling of a tier two (Matt Ryan, Eli Manning, Russel Wilson) Quarterback. He is worth consideration at the number 4 pick if Ramsey and Bosa are gone.

  1. ...and arm strength
  2. ...and a quick release.
  3. ...and not staring down his receivers
  4. ...and reading the coverages and blitz
  5. ...and mechanics
  6. ...and wonderlic test score
  7. ...and fat people

Anyone comparing Goff's arm to Pennington has no idea what they are talking about. It's that kind of stuff that will make nobody take you seriously.

I've seen Pennington throw 50 to hit moss in stride. Don't really care if anyone takes me seriously I call it as I see it and Pennington isn't the worst to be compared to.

Noticed you haven't stuck your neck out with a comparison so we can decide if you know what you are talking about.

Obviously. If you want a Pennington arm look at Kessler, not Goff.

Over Ramsey (who doesn't make plays) or Bosa.
