AdamJT13 said:Newman has allowed a 44.4-percent completion rate. At some point, I'll break that down by the length of attempt. The majority of the completions he has allowed were thrown less than 10 yards downfield.
And the only place where we might get a comparison against other corners is from KC Joyner, an ESPN Insider columnist. He tracks that kind of thing, among other stuff, but his numbers aren't always perfectly accurate. They give you a pretty good idea, though.
AdamJT13 said:Sorry, but Roy is having the best season of any strong safety in the NFC. He has more big plays than any of them, and he is making them all over the field. Roy is the only defensive back in the past four years to have at least 2.5 sacks, two interceptions and three forced fumbles for turnovers, and he's the first defensive back in at least five years to have all of those plus a defensive touchdown and a fumble recovery.
Roy's biggest competition for the strong safety spot comes from Mike Brown and Michael Lewis. If you add up all of Roy's big plays (sacks, interceptions, forced fumbles for turnovers, fumble recoveries and touchdowns), he has more of them than Brown and Lewis COMBINED (9.5 to 9.0). If Roy doesn't make the Pro Bowl, THAT will be a joke.
