I am not saying he's going to be Michael Bennett, but I think it's clear that is the type of player and position that they are trying to get here.

We took Chauncey Golston wtih the third round pick we added by trading back in the first round. He seems grounded with his head on straight in this interview. Sometimes a player comes in and just listening to him you think he could be a productive starter for the the Cowboys, Sean Lee and Darren Woodson come to mind. Golston was highly productive at Iowa and I'm really rooting for him.

Golston, who showed positional flexibility along the defensive line in college, got on the practice field at The Star for the first time along with the other rookies for minicamp on Friday. After practice, he told the media where the coaching staff has initial plans of playing him.

"I'll be focusing on [defensive] end right now," Golston said. "That's all we've gotten to so far. But overall just trying to get better at learning the defense and being a better first-step player."

I have to admit, I am impressed how he is embracing his role as the Tyrone Crawford Replacement.

Interesting player comparisons.- not interested so much in physical comparisons but more so how they could compare
to play on on the field, how Bennett attack, and was a flat hand machine when it comes to hand usage techniques,
using leverages, knowing how to get skinny and bypassing and shedding blocks,... if he's michael bennett that would be a
damn good asset to this Defense ... !!

Sean Lee was the leader of our defense/great linebacker and Woodson is a borderline HOF player. Golston is a rotational backup at best. I do like his attitude and leadership abilities.
It's very possible he is just a rotational piece but how do you know that he is just a backup at best when you haven't seen him take a snap even in otas against veterans? It's also possible he becomes a starter and plays extremely well. I think folks should at least see the guy play before saying what he is going to be in the future.

unfamiliar with the 2 o-linemen.
wouldn't have taken wright at that spot.
so...theres 3.
I know it's just rookie camp but Wright was one of the best rookies there and some say the most impressive of all the rookies including Parsons.

I'm ok where they took Wright and i think he will make a ton of people eat crow

Didnt like the pick. Better players on the board. Great at nothing. Solid is maybe a good word for him. Ceiling is probably a rotational backup. I was never big on Crawford, but he did have value with his flexibility.

Definitely not a "helluva player".

How about heck of a player? No?

Let us pray . . .
Please, God -- may Golston be good enough to get the sacks that Crawford couldn't and plug the run like he, hopefully, can! Thanks.

I think this guy is going to be scrutinized a little more than most 3rd round picks because many people (including me) thought he was picked a little earlier than he should have been. I'm not sure that's fair to him, the team drafted him when they did, he didn't do anything wrong. They obviously saw something in his game to warrant the pick so I'll withhold judgment for now. Maybe he'll be like Fredrick and silence all the haters and become a multi year All Pro. Maybe not.
I did like him coming out and do think the guy has some potential so we will see how he progresses.
If he is the "Crawford" replacement as many seem to think he is, than I hope this coaching staff doesn't screw him up like the last staff did to TC. Get him to a weight/position and keep him there.

If having a good attitude does the trick, methinks he's a lock! He's not only good but he's humble, as well. Yay! Hip, hip, hooray!

Golston projects as an early down defender at the NFL level. His best flashes come as a play side DE who sifts through trash/bullies TE's, & tackles w/outside in leverage to set a firm edge & turn runs back into pursuit.

Seen enough of him playing Penn State lol. Going to be fun watching our new draftees playing at a pro level.
