Good Dream?... Andrew Luck

Do you normally expect a QB to deliver a SB after only 3 years starting? 2006 doesn't really count for Romo in my opinion. Neither does 2010.

Seems to me you are holding Romo to an unrealistic expectation. Just because Rodgers won it relatively early with his team and Raper boy with his doesn't mean that Romo should be expected to do the same with the Cowboys.

Again....team sport. The better team usually wins championships, not necessarily the best QB.

Romo's been starting for 5 seasons and had the team in position in 06 to go deep into the playoffs until his game unraveled in Dec/Jan.

He led the team to 4 straight wins at one point that season including a win over the 9-0 Colts who went on to win the SB.

In 07 Romo was leading one of the best teams in franchise history. The Cowboys were 12-1 at one point and had 13 pro bowlers. Everything started going down the drain after his game started melting down again against Philly.

Romo had the nerve to run off to Cabo with his celebrity girlfriend just prior to a playoff game that he ended up not playing well in.

You have fans here that have been saying for 2 years he's a better QB than Rodgers and are still saying it even after Rodgers SB win.

Rodgers won a SB after only 3 years as a starter and Romo's a more experienced QB. The team who's QB plays the best almost always wins the SB.

You might not want to count last season but the Cowboys were 1-5 with Romo they weren't going anywhere had he stayed healthy.

With the talent the Cowboys have had since Romo took over they should have accomplished a lot more than they have.

This is an underachieving team and Romo has to take some of the blame for the Cowboys repeated failure to live up to their potential.

It is true the Cowboys went on to play "the rest of the season" better without Romo I wasn't referring to the rest of the Giants game.
No it's not.

True or False - They played like absolute garbage the next two games with Kitna under center.

True or False - It wasn't until the coaching change that the entire team - including Jon Kitna - started putting some semblance of a professional football product on the field.

It's obvious you don't know me you just like putting your own spin on things.
I don't need to know you. Your agenda shows quite easily.

Romo takes one hard hit in 6 games last season that put him on the shelf for the rest of the year because of a missed block and you have a few fans saying he's taking a beating.
Absolute garbage.

Romo's taken some ridiculously hard hits not just to the body, but to the head...and not just last year, but in the last few years.

Want to see examples? Look up the KC game in 09, the first Commander game that same year and the Cleveland game from 08. And they're not the only ones, just the examples that immediately come to mind.

With that in mind, remember that last year he became the first QB in franchise history to play every snap in a season.

I was a member of another board and it was never mentioned. Again I'm not saying it didn't happen I'm saying I never heard about it.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

But it did happen.

The Cowboys were competitive the first 6 games because the team hadn't quit yet and they had their starting QB playing.
Yeah...

When Kitna took over he was terribly rusty from not playing in 2 years. It took a few games for him to work off the rust and get comfortable with the receivers he hadn't been working with.

The Cowboys had to scale their offense down when he first took over until he got up to speed.

The team was already deflated from being 1-5 now they were stuck at 1-6 having to play with an aging backup QB.
Now who's "spinning"? :laugh2:

The "rust" excuse works for the Giant game...maybe.

The Jax and GB games? Hell, no. Everyone not named Dez Bryant played like absolute garbage...if they even tried playing at all.

The team proceeded to give up after the JAX game until Jerry shook things up after the GB debacle by firing Wade and giving the players a warning their jobs for next season were on the line.

The Cowboys became very competitive after that winning their next 2 straight and it would have been 3 straight had it not been for Roy Williams fumble against NO late in that game.

The Cowboys lost 3 games by a total of 7 points after the shakeup. The team ended the season a very competitive team and it earned Garrett the head coaching job.

I never gave the notion the team wouldn't have done just as well or better with Romo. Isn't that what you meant? That's just you putting your own spin on things again. LOL
Again, I'm just going by what I read, because when I see this:

The Cowboys were 1-5 with Romo and ended up a better team with Kitna.
No guarantees the Cowboys would have finished strong under Romo because he's only been able to maintain his game once in 5 seasons during Dec/Jan.
He's not the QB Romo is but he has some qualities that I wish Romo had. He shows leadership and he doesn't let mistakes get him down.

Kitna has some fire in him and Romo could learn some things from him.
, it sure reads to me like someone implying Jon Kitna did a better job than Tony Romo could have, whatever the reasons may be.

But maybe I'm just "spinning" it to my own agenda and those words aren't really there.

http://straightfromthea.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/Kanye-Shrug.jpg

It probably would have gone better with Romo the key to the improved play was Wades firing, Garrett's promotion along with Jerry's warning to the team.

As for the Saints game easy to say the Cowboys would have won that game with Romo. Kitna completed 71% of his passes in that game for 313 yards and brought the team back from a 17 point deficit.

Doubt Romo could have performed any better than Kitna did that day. Romo hasn't exactly excelled when the Cowboys are getting their butts handed to them. He's too busy losing his poise and sulking on the sidelines during times like that.
I don't even have anything to say to that last part, but did you watch the game or simply look at the box score? Do you remember WHY Dallas was down 17-0 after the first quarter?

Do you remember who threw a pick on the first possession and then aborted a snap on 3rd down of the second possession (an issue that goes back a while with him and Andre Gurode for whatever reason)?

Here's a hint: It wasn't Tony Romo.

Kitna's to be commended for anchoring the comeback but let's not act like he played a flawless game and the only reason he lost was because of Roy's fumble...

What lost that game was Roy Williams fumble after a beautiful throw from Kitna then our swiss cheese defense proceeded to give up the winning score with less than 2 minutes to play.
I agree. Roy simply holds onto the ball, or the defense does it's job one more time, that's one hell of a win.

But again, not like Kitna played a perfect game on his part either. Hell, no one on the team did - they were pretty sloppy. But like has been shown in the past, they're talented enough to hang with anyone if they pull their heads out of their lower orifices.

Romo's played a big part in the Cowboys late season struggles all you have to do is compare his career stats in Nov with his career stats from Dec/Jan and pay special attention to the increase in his turnovers during the crunch games.

The team plays like he does during those months his play affects the entire team.
Or maybe it's the other way around. We've been over this hundreds of times on how despite having terrible blocking, little to no assist from the ground game and a defense that can't stop anyone when they need to, he's made the play that needs to be made...only to be let down. The only time I can pin a loss squarely on his shoulders was that game at Pittsburgh...other than that, he's been the only reason they were even competing. I look forward to what he'll be able to do with a team under Garrett's command. It should be great.

Because as we see time and time again, it's not great QB's that win Super Bowls...it's great TEAMS.

Now go twist everything I've said to fit whatever agenda you have.
Again, I don't have to. You're doing it for me.

But if you're gonna continue using that crutch for the duration, I guess we have nothing left to discuss here, do we?

True, the team was 1-6 and had just lost their starting QB for at least 6 to 8 weeks. The team had given up.

Only part of that is true the other thing that got the team playing better was Kitna had worked off most of the rust from not playing for 2 years.

The offense had to be simplified until he was up to speed which limited what the Cowboys could do on offense.

Kitna isn't as nimble a foot as Romo so the Cowboys had to make a few changes.

Once Kitna started getting back into the groove of playing and got on page with his receivers he played well.

Every QB takes some hard hits they play in the NFL not a flag football league.

As for the hits to his head how many concussions has Romo suffered? To my knowledge he hasn't suffered one in the NFL. So much for those hits to the head. LOL

So what's your point he's not being protected? In his last 47 games he's been sacked 89 times compared to 115 sacks for Rodgers in his last 47 games.

Speaking of hits to the head Rodgers suffered 2 concussions last season. Both he and Roethlisberger have taken more hits than Romo.

The Cowboys OL gave up a total of 29 sacks last season with Romo, Kitna, and McGee combined.

Rodgers got sacked 31 times last season and suffered 2 concussions. Roethlisberger got sacked 32 times in just 12 games last season and suffered a broken nose.

In 08 Roethlisberger played behind the worst OL in SB history. He was sacked 46 times that season and was carted off the field late that season with a concussion.

Romo hasn't taken near the hits that Rodgers or Roethlisberger has taken.

You don't agree the offense had to be simplified until Kitna was up to speed? He said during his first practice as the starter they were going to have to scale things some down a bit until he got up to speed.

Did you miss that? LOL I don't play the spin game that's your MO.

Dude, Kitna hadn't played in a regular season game in 2 years. All the reps he got during training camp were with backup receivers.

During preseason he only attempted 39 passes all with backups.

The first 6 weeks of the season he got virtually no reps and you expect him to be finely tuned after only one half of football?

It's going to take more than that for a QB who hadn't played a meaningful game in 2 years to work off the rust and get familiar with receivers he hadn't worked with.

He passed for 379 yards against Jax completed almost 70% of his passes. Romo's only had maybe 2 games in his career that were more productive than that.

Kitna had 4 int's that hurt his performance.

Funny how you make excuses for Romo but won't give Kitna any leeway. LOL

Primetime42;3849650 said:

That's exactly what you're doing because your take on what I said is false.

Saying Kitna has some qualities I wish Romo had isn't saying he did a better job than Romo it's saying that he handled his mistakes and the adversity the team was facing better than Romo.

Kitna doesn't sulk after a bad play he goes over and starts trying to round up his troops instead of looking dejected on the bench.

He'll get pissed off jawing with his receiver coming off the field when they've screwed up. Say what you will about Kitna but he has some moxie about him his leadership has never been questioned.

Now go ahead and spin it that I'm saying Kitna is better than Romo. :laugh2:

No, it was Romo but he tossed 7 picks in 6 games last season. He threw a couple of very costly ill timed picks one against Tenn with just 7 min to play that helped cost the Cowboys that game.

Kitna clearly played a part in the team getting down 17-0 vs NO I never said he didn't.

Kitna makes mistakes and you jump right on them but ignore Romo's mistakes that have helped keep the team from living up to it's potential.

Kitna was forced to take over at QB when the team was pretty much down and out at 1-5.

I think he did a wonderful job under the circumstances and his play should be commended regardless that he didn't play perfect.

Primetime42;3849650 said:

In this era it's the team who's QB plays the best that wins the SB. The last few SB's have come down to QB's having to make plays to win the game in the end.

It's a passing league and QB's have to throw the ball for their teams to win the SB.

I don't need a crutch I deal in facts while you have to use one because you appear to be handicapped by your inability to comprehend what you read.

Either that or you enjoy putting your own spin on what people say.

You can't find anything factual so you give your own take on things. If you want to continue that game go waste someone else's time.

You guys do realize that no one and I mean no one actually reads those line by line responses? Even mods monitoring threads typically pass them over.

If you just want to argue amongst yourselves by all means continue but if you want to get a point across to anyone else then try being succinct and direct.

I would hope no one is bored enough to read through a debate of this length that involves two other posters. LOL

I don't waste my time reading anything over 2-3 paragraphs that isn't addressed to me.
