Good Dream?... Andrew Luck

Yep, notice how some people are so quick on the gun in a thread that was as harmless as a photoshop but quickly turned into a "Romo injury thread". Yet, in the entire thread about Spencer, which is interesting and insightful...not a peep from the very same posters.

Well if it isn't the President of the Tony Romo homer club. LOL What was that you said yesterday put Romo on the Packers and he would do just as good as Rodgers if not better? :laugh2:

I assume you think Romo wouldn't have turned the ball over a single time in the playoffs and SB?

Rodgers has been sacked almost twice as much as Romo the past 3 seasons and suffered two concussions last season and you're still in denial on which QB has taken the bigger beating.

As for me mentioning Rodgers you're not beside yourself that a fan on this board is dreaming about Andrew Luck as a Cowboy?

Now run along kido and go worship your Tony Romo Fathead. :laugh2:

He actually turned the ball over 3 times in the playoffs so my bad but regardless he maintained his poise through the adversity he faced and played virtually flawless against Atlanta and Pittsburgh.

Pretty sure it was after the debacle in Philly from 08.

I don't think it has to do with just the one hit. Collapsing in the shower in 08 and then he took a knee to back trying to tackle Hall on a fumble by Barber and that had him sore for a bit in 09.

That was 3 years ago and it wasn't anything serious because it never made news.

I certainly didn't hear anything about it and Romo never missed a snap or showed any sign of being injured during the game.

QB's are going to take hits and be sore occasionally after tough games football is a contact sport.

The Cowboys got killed by Philly that day the shots Romo took in that game don't happen every week it was just one of those games.

He was probably sore trying to chase down the defender who scooped up his fumble and ran 96 yards for a TD.

Romo's had only 2 injuries since 06 that caused him to miss playing time.

He broke his pinky in 08 and his collarbone last season. Those were freak injuries.

Hoofbite;3847858 said:
Romo has missed 3/4 of a season in that time. And what's the point in comparing one of the worst OL in football (GB) to Dallas OL? And how does that do anything to negate a claim that Romo has been hit?

Unless you're trying to argue that he hasn't been hit because there are players who have been hit more (if that makes any sense at all), I don't see why Green Bay or Pittsburgh are in the discussion. Sure, there are guys who get hit worse. That doesn't mean that Romo doesn't get hit.

If you add the last 12 games of the 07 season with the games Romo played in 08, 09 and 2010 that would make it Romo's last 47 games.

During that period he was sacked 89 times compared to 115 sacks for Rodgers in his last 47 games.

As for which team had the worst OL last season Green Bay or Dallas the stats say Green Bay.

The Packers gave up more sacks than the Cowboys and the Cowboys played most of the season with old man Kitna who's not the most nimble of foot.

The Packers ranked 24th in rushing last season and the Cowboys were ranked 16th so every stat gives the Cowboys OL an edge over the Packers.

No one is arguing that Romo hasn't been hit but he hasn't taken the beating some of you are trying to spin. These are just more apologies for Romo.

Pittsburgh and Green Bay are in the discussion because they got to the SB with OL's that don't protect their QB's as well as the Cowboys OL have protected theirs.

The stats back it up!

Hoofbite;3847858 said:
Yeah, Detroit sucks and Mike Martz in Detroit sucks worse. What's the point?

The point is the Cowboys OL kept Kitna upright more than most of the teams he's played for and he's pushing 40.

Did you forget JAX an GB?

Did you forget Kitna was more rusty than the tin man in the Wizard of Oz from not playing for over 2 years?

JAX and GB were the first 2 games he started after Romo got hurt.

He got virtually no reps in practice until Romo's injury. The Cowboys had to simplify the offense until he got up to speed.

When you really get right down to it, it wasn't Romo's injury that demoralized the team because they were already demoralized at 1-5.

The team quit on Wade that's what ultimately caused the debacle in GB.

Once candy *** was fired the team started to respond.

The Cowboys were 1-5 with Romo and ended up a better team with Kitna.

Naturally the change in HC played a big part in the improvement but the fact is the team finished much better than it started.

No guarantees the Cowboys would have finished strong under Romo because he's only been able to maintain his game once in 5 seasons during Dec/Jan.

I skimmed but I saw how many times Romo got sacked. As if hes not always dodging guys left and right.

Think of some of the Cowboys biggest plays and it involves Romo having to escape first. Not drop back, survey the field, and pick them apart.

I'm not sure who you're referring to but seeing you're responding to someone who was attacking me I'll address your comment.

Two other posters brought up Romo and one mentioned he was talking a beating that's when I responded. I'm not the one who turned this into a Romo injury thread.

Just thought I'd clear that up!

It's not exactly a surprise Romo came up in a thread about someone imagining Andrew Luck as a Cowboy. LOL

As for the Spencer thread I haven't even clicked that one on. He's looking like another Ebenezer Ekuban.

Unless he plays great next season it will be his last in Dallas. Plans to replace him may start this April.

:laugh2: He's not that bad. Other than Ware, the whole defense under performed last year. Yes, that goes for Ratliff too.

But that's how it goes when you draft a DE/OLB in the first round. These tweener's are a miss more than a hit if you look at the last 7-8 seasons of everyone drafting them in the first.

That's why all this Robert Quinn talk to replace him, after the guy missed a whole season and has never played OLB gets to me. You don't risk a top 10 pick on a tweener. Vernon Gholston did not lack any of the physical ability Robert Quinn apparently has. He at least played the year before the draft and against tougher opponents.

Von Miller I rather take as he's played the position and is a proven commodity. Still don't think he's the pick either. Defense yes, but not an OLB. We have a chance at players in positions that can help us along the d-line and possibly in the secondary were the real needs are and they are the higher rated players anyways.

They were already demoralized at 1-5 but they were beating the snot out of the Giants before Romo got knocked out.

So there was still fight in this team and losing Romo did put a nail in the coffin for these guys until Red took over.

You saw how the game went after Romo got knocked out and of course the next 2 games after that.

I do however think Wade heading our coaching staff had a worse impact than the Romo injury and that is very evident.

The team did respond and Kitna played admirably immediately once Red took over as HC.

Making it more evident that Wade being HC had more of a negative impact on this team than Romo being out for the season.

When Romo was injured against the Giants and Kitna came in he couldn't get anything going he kept firing blanks.

Granted the team let down after Romo went out but Kitna was terribly rusty and it took all of 2 quarters before he was able to start moving the offense.

He only completed 48% of his passes in that game.

The next week against JAX Kitna threw the ball a lot better but tossed 4 picks and that loss pretty much ended the Cowboys season and the team proceeded to quit the next week against GB.

What got the Cowboys playing better was obviously Wades firing and Jerry's tongue lashing letting players know they're playing for their jobs next year.

The rust started coming off Kitna's game and he started throwing TD's instead of int's.

He tossed 12 TD passes the next 7 games and went 5 straight games with a completion percentage no lower than 67.6%.

Not only did Kitna throw the ball well but he rushed for 147 yards which was more than Romo ever had in a 16 game season.

I was very impressed by the way Kitna played.

He's not the QB Romo is but he has some qualities that I wish Romo had. He shows leadership and he doesn't let mistakes get him down.

Kitna has some fire in him and Romo could learn some things from him.

His play along with Garrett energizing the team made what was an awful season at least a little better.

So far Spencer is a lot closer to Ebenezer Ekuban than Greg Ellis.

Ekuban was on some real bad Cowboy teams in the early 2000's registering only 12.5 sacks in his 6 seasons with the Cowboys.

Spencer's registered 15.5 sacks in his 4 seasons with the Cowboys but he's been on some good teams and plays a position in a 3/4 scheme where he should get lots of sacks.

Once Ekuban left the Cowboys he registered 24 sacks the next 4 years with Cleveland and Denver.

With a force like Ware on the other side Spencer should be getting to the QB a lot more than he does.

When you compare the players Spencer has around him with the players Ekuban had around him when he was with the Cowboys Spencer might not even be as good as Ekuban. LOL

Let's face it Ekuban looked a heck of a lot better once he left Dallas.

Its hard to imagine a real fan of the Boys hating one of our hard working good players like KJJ does with Tony. Just proves he is no real fan at all.

People arent allowed to dislike players of their favorite teams?

I dunno about that. I don't remember hear about either of those guys collapsing in the shower after a game.

On the other hand, they've both been concussed I believe. Concussions are worse than broken bones in the long run.

Romo's definitely taken a beating but I wouldn't say a broken collarbone is any sort of indicator of future injury. Neither is a broken finger.

He does need to start protecting himself at all costs though. He's too important to lose. Completely demoralized the team when he went down.

I have not heard of anything happening with either of them in the shower. That does not mean that there have not been days after they've been beat up and can barely get out of bed and the like.

This is football and Romo's pocket presence and mobility keep him more out of harms way than most. Its arguably his best asset.

REALLY....? .. This has to be the most ignorant thing ever uttered on a sports forum. Just because someone wears a star on their helmet doesn't mean a person who is a fan of the team has to bow down. That's just idiotic...
