Good job interview, but there was a red flag

I had a job interview that went pretty well, but I was surprised that they asked for my birth date, including the year. I'm not all uptight about my age, but I thought it was illegal to ask someone their age in an interview. That gives me pause. She insisted they only needed the info to create a login for me.

I'm feeling pretty good about the interview, except for that one thing. I thought age and religion were strictly off limits.

That confirms that this is a red flag. It was the only one, so maybe it's okay. The rest of the interview went really well. The interviewer had a heavy accent, and so I had to ask her to repeat or clarify sometimes, but I managed.

I do not know why that is even a big deal? It is just your birthdate, do you rather have the interviewer ask for your social security number instead?

I was watching advice videos on Youtube, and asking about age was one of the red flags they identified, that and asking about religion or things in your personal life. It did seem weird to me, that and the idea that they can't create a login for me without knowing my birth date. The truth is you don't need to know that just to make a login.

Biggest red flags are if they mention "team player", and "one big family". Those always translate to, "we are looking to see if we can squeeze some free labor out of you somewhere down the line, and even if you go above and beyond, we'll kick you to the curb without warning".
