I have DTV and have for almost 8 years. This year the wife wanted to cancel it after figuring out how much the Sunday ticket was... Then we found out that if you have it, and call and raise enough of a stink, they'll lower the price of the ticket for you. Ours went from $300 down to $180! I'll pay that every year no questions asked haha

DirecTv owners should definitely give them a call and threaten to cancel all service, not just the ticket... they'll eventually give in...

Or $50 if somebody is cool with letting you use their account.

:hammer:

I cancelled my D-Tv subscription and went that route. They were begging and pleading and giving me all types of offer until I asked them 2 simple questions: " what happens next year ? Do I have to go through this all over again " ?

They couldn't come up with an answer, so I told them: adios enemigos..

You can get directv and only activate it during the NFL season, you only pay for the NFL Ticket and $5 a month after that to keep your account active.

Were you grandfathered ? Because that's what I used to have but they told me that I needed at least a minimum package before I ditched them..

I must have been extremely lucky in my 20+ years of owning a dish from Primestar to DirecTv when they bought them out because if I lose my signal a half dozen times a year for more then 2 minutes it's unusual

Yea, that is a myth. From basically April through October it rains down here ( Miami, FL ) every other day and rarely, if ever, lost signal. The old dishes were worse, but not by much.

I see a bunch of DTV haters! Man crazy My fiance and I just broke up and I just moved in with a buddy who has ATT uverse and it sucks! The internet is great, but compared to my DTV(the ex still has it) it just terrible. I am glad I can stream them online now! Also I use to pay 89 bucks for the ticket when I had a C band dish.

This has found to be true as I did this 2 weeks ago. Same exact scenario as well. I was going to cancel ST, but they convinced me to remain a subscriber by giving me $120 off of the ST price.

I'm guessing the $350 includes the satellite and online option. I have had the ticket for over 13 years and the price keeps on rising, I keep paying even though the lat few years I would have only missed 6-10 games combined.

My dish and receiver is not even HD. I have cable also. I just pay for the Sunday ticket. $300 is worth not guessing if I will miss a game. $350 for the online option means my daughter in college in CA will also not miss a game.

Sue me, but Sundays from September to January, 3 hours a week (for the game), no one bother me. If friends come over, its not social, no talking.

I don't want to go to a sports bar, fight for a seat that is close to the TV, I want to drink my own beer, smoke cigs as I watch the game (bad jarv, the only time I smoke in the house). I want no last minute thoughts on am I going to get the game or not. It's worth it to me.

$300-$350 may seem a lot for a few games that I don't get on cable, but the piece of mind is priceless.

I'm with you brother, I keep paying even thought I would have missed maybe 3-4 games last year. I like the option of watching the game in my own house by myself or with friends and eat and drink my own food and not have to fight for a seat or wait for the waiter to bring my order. I did goto Buffalo Wild Wings to watch two of the eagles games last year, I think I may have spent about $80-100 on food and drinks between the two games, so 300+ is worth it to me.

I would think about it but:

1. Lots of Cowboy games will be available to me anyway: 2 Giants games + Thanksgiving + Sunday night/Monday games -- a total of 6 I think. That means paying $350 for 10 games, so $35 a pop. Not worth it because...

2. Internet streaming -- though often lousy quality and unreliable -- is available for $0 a pop.

Don't gouge me DTV, and I will pay you. But $35 a game to watch on a computer is not a good deal.

No im just really cheap and only spend money on football and food :lmao2:

my problem with this:

That nfl replay thing. $40 for the whole season, sure its not live but thats 1/8th the price. Thats the price of going to Hooters around twice, so I got 10 games last year, say two times I stay home its a good deal for me, ill stream it w. cruddy quality, but the next day re-watch it on the nfl replay thing. Sure its the cheap way to do it, but its much more financially sound. Im not going to be spending $60 per game ill watch and enjoy on it as I would w/ this package.

NFL Replay/Game Rewind package: https://gamerewind.nfl.com/nflgr/secure/registerform?icamapign=GR_HP_CP&module=HP_spotlight

then you just stream it on links provided on the zone on Sundays, and wa-la your watching games you don't get for around $10 a piece. Sounds better to me.
I'm soooooooo glad I'm not 16 any more.

I just got DTV this past month and got the ticket. After dealing with Time Warner for the majority of my tv years I'm very pleased with the DTV service. The HD quality is a lot better than TW. Frankly I could care less about the cost. It's not that much more than the cable/internet bundle I was getting from Time Warner and for me to watch any game I want in my own lazy boy chair is awesome. No more stupid Bills games and blackout 1PM games for me. If I was still on TW I'd only get one 1PM game and one 4PM game this weekend and one of those two would be Bills Miami...woo freakin hoo.

People crying about the cost basically want to have their cake and eat it too. Breaking down how many actual games you're paying for over nationally televised games...give me a break. You're not paying just for the Dallas games. Nut up an pay it or go to the bar. You know what you're getting into when you sign up for this, it's pretty black and white. Stop trying to find a grey area.

I've paid for it for many years now. I think it was about 189 for the year when i first got it. I had the nfl ticket as my only programming package back then. No such thing as HD tv.

The price has jumped way more over the last few years than it really should have. I think this is what people dont like. This is a forum and its their right to complain if they want to about the price or package options. You may be in a different financial position than many others. But imagine how you would feel if it was triple the price? With you "nut up and pay it" attitude the cost would be way more than it already is. I think directv would sell more nfl tickets if they would either make it a pay per view weeks, or games. Maybe have a Dallas Cowboys bundle for 1 price. That way you have options. I know you say you get to see all the games, but how many games can you be watching at one time? I will keep buying it for now. But i call and get a better deal every year on it. I am hoping directv will slow down the increase in prices or the black market for streaming HD games over the internet will just grow. Because the price as it is now is too expensive. When things get to that point Piracy starts. They are about at that point.

I did the same thing, have for two years. Last year, I got the $130 deal, this year the $180 deal. I guess next year it'll be $230. I don't know how long I'll buy the Sunday Ticket. But if they keep giving me sweet deals, it may be worth the investment. Nothing like picking which games you want to watch.

Gotta serious question about your sports bar experiences. Living in California I find there are always plenty of Boys fans in sportsbars. But what surprises me, living in the land of total diversity, is that Cowboy fans tend to divide up by race. Latinos sit together as do blacks and white dudes. But they don't talk much to each other or even reach over to celebrate TDs. I'v noticed this in a half dozen locations. Older fans tend to be more social, younger guys more isolated - except for the homies at their table.

Hey, when Austin streaks across the middle for a 45 yarder into the endzone I want to high five everybody in blue and silver. I enjoy talking with different people as the game progresses. Especially out of state, if you've got Cowboy gear on - you're my friend (unless you get stupid drunk and abusive). What gives????

My favorite part of going to Hooters to watch Cowboys games I don't get is talking to older fans, even fans of different teams. Its just interesting, love soaking in their knowledge. Except for when its the team where playing, I was in an intense debate with a giants fan the 2nd time we played them the entire time. My brother, who is also a giants fan pulled me back and was like calm down your going to get into a fight with a old man.

(me and my brother, sometimes a few friends aswell go to Hooters for all games the Cowboys are playing at the same time as the Giants, not on TV, or playing the Giants)

I agree with you there because I have always wished for a pay per view type format, but I don't see that coming by team anytime soon.

When I bought the ticket I looked at it like buying season tickets, not just for the Boys but for the whole league. And darn it those are the cheapest season tix I've ever bought. Different financial situations and attitudes bring different viewpoints on the package price.

Wow this is funny.

I called the other day and cancelled for this exact reason, and had a 20 minute conversation about not being allowed to have a dish, but wanted to watch online.

Looks like I'll be buying that now.

I had this exact conversation with the reps. I even suggested that they should have the online version as a standalone. This is perfect for me.

I have tried so many ways of getting all the Cowboy games. I set up a slingbox at one of my friend's places where they get the Cowboys for local broadcast, but his internet provider's upload speed was way to low to have a decent quality stream. Plus the slingbox was always losing its settings for some reason and my buddy was really not tech savy enough to fix it.

I live in a condo where I can't keep a DTV dish, but kept my dish at my othe buddy's house and then used slingbox to watch my Sunday ticket over the internet. His upload speed was pretty good. I finally got them to add superfan for free last year and watched most of the games on the superfan stream. The quality was excellent and it's not subject to blackouts. This is important for me because I only have an HD antenna that happens to lose reception at the most crucial moments in games.

For 350 dollars, I basically pay the ST price + superfan and don't have to pay for programming that I never watch. At 29.99 + DVR fee + taxes and such, I'm basically saving around 400.00 a year.

This is easier said then done. I don't know anybody else that has ST. I've asked in forums and no one ever replies.
