Laufenberg also wanted to see himself start, and we know how that turned out.

I put zero stock in Laufenberg's opinion. He never impressed me when he was on the field ( either time.lol) and he doesn't impress me now that he's in the broadcast booth. He's still playing back-up.

I have no problem with Tony Romo being the Cowboy's QB, if he earns the job. So far, IMO, he has not done that.

Romo spent 4 years playing QB in college and then came into the NFL. Henson played in maybe a dozen games during his time in college and only started a hanfull of them. He then spent 3 years playing baseball. Henson has a fraction of the playing experience and time in the game as Romo has, and the on field performance difference between the two is miniscule at best. What does that tell you? It tells me that with the same amount of playing time and experience behind Him, Romo couldn't carry Henson's jock. To me it's just common sense.

Now I don't know how the so-called experts see it, but thats my take.

So I take it that this poster has attended every practice and charted the throws.

Second, what does Laufenberg's performance as an NFL QB have to do with anything? I must have missed the well known fact that all QB evaluators and coaches in the NFL had great NFL careers as quarterbacks.

I also notice how he conveniently didn't have much to say about Troy Aikman's comments.

We sure do. That along with the Reggie Collier start, were the two single worst performances I have ever seen from the Cowboys. Bad thing was, a playoff spot was at stake.

I agree. Babe is a buffoon.

He has not taken a snap in the NFL. It is fine if he can do it, but to say he can based off of nothing is incredibly dumb.

Nobody is saying he's the future of the Cowboys. People are saying he's earned a chance.

OK so Babe is a bafoon. Explain Galloway, Aikman, JFE, Dave Shore and all the others who have writen similar articles concerning Romo distancing himself from Henson.

A chance for the future, correct?

When exactly will this occur?

Two years from now...when it is clear Bledsoe could not get it done?

If anyone feels he is ready, by all means, throw him in the deep end of the pool and see if he can swim. I don't think he can.

But we all know he won't get that chance. Not unless Bledsoe gets hurt.

Based on what? Because Parcells didn't bench Vinny last year to ruin Henson?

Who cares?

It is not an achievement to distance yourself from an ex-baseball player who is not only trying to overcome a layoff, but got his throwing motion changed to boot.

Put Romo on many other teams and he is not the second string, and might have a battle for a roster spot. Here, he breezes by Henson and people are all shocked.

Or develop this very same guy who deserves a shot in Romo.

I like what I see out of Romo.

I know a lot of people will think I am crazy, but I like what he may provide in the future.

Now I need to see more, but from what I have seen so far he looks to have good pocket pressence, moves well in the pocket, can throw with good touch, and I noticed last game he seems to have a quicker release that what I rememebr from last year. He also seems to be smart, and word has it he has a good understanding of the offense, and a good ability to read defenses.

The only thing I question is his arm strength, but I think it is good enough.

If he ever gets his shot, I think he is going to suprise a lot of us, JMO.

I am on his bandwagon!

In regards to Henson, he just seems to have a ways to go still, and honestly that is what I expected when we signed him. 2 or 3 years should be the expectation to be able to see what he has.

You need to seriously take 10 minutes to go to NFL.com and look at some depth charts.

We're talking about a league where Gus Ferotte is going to be a STARTER. Chad Hutchinson is going to be a starter. If you think teams are loaded with 3 QB's who can play in the league, you are delusional. Most teams are lucky to have 1.

You know, I was hoping Henson would win the job, but I see no reason to dismiss Romo as a possibility.

He looked good against the Cards. By all accounts he has outplayed Henson.

I hope he pans out and I wouldn't mind seeing him get some real PT this year.

I am fully aware of the depth charts and who starts where.

I just don't happen to buy into the talk that Romo is any better than many of the second stringers you see out there.

He is NOT better than Kelly Holcomb, A.J. Feeley, Jay Fiedler, Jon Kitna, Tommy Maddox, David Gerrard, Billy Volek, etc., etc. All of which have won NFL games and have actually taken snaps in live games.

The only places I think have so little depth behind their starter is in Indianapolis, Denver, Kansas City and unfortunately, Chicago.

Just because people like Frerotte are starters just tells you how bad and diluted the talent in the NFL at the position has become.

And also how overrated a player like Romo, who is in the back half of that mediocre lot, is becoming because we have lost hope with Henson...who honestly should not have gotten the savior label applied.

its all good. i believe henson has the tangible goods. romo it appears has the intangibles. you need a little bit of both to succeed in this league. but whoever wins the job itll be ok since it means the cowboys got better.

Outplayed? By how much? Wasn't by much if you ask me. Again, Romo has had much more football experience than Henson, and yet there isn't much difference between the two. Even Parcells said do not read anything into Romo taking snaps with the second string.

Romo is going to need to do a lot better if he wants to pull away by a furlong. And Henson seems to be gaining momentum as it allready is. I for one will let the preseason play out before saying so and so is ahead of anyone.

It would be difficult for anyone to claim whether the gap between Romo or Henson is narrow or wide unless they've been to all the practices. The beat writers and commentators who have been to all or most of the practices seem to think its fairly obvious.

I would say that if Romo plays ahead of Henson in Monday Nights game after Parcells had previously said that he wanted to rotate them, then the gap must be rather definitive.
