Actually, now that I think about it, I think that's what Goose does.

The mock is the morning right before the Draft.

That said, I think what he's really good at is his Top 100.

Look at the players in bold.

It looks like we did really well last year (and we'll know for sure in a couple years), but no wonder!

His top 100 isn't his personal ranking so much as it is where he thinks people will go, IIRC. I don't the guy ever claimed to do anything but relay info from scouts.

I can't remember what grade he gave us, last year, do you?

I do know he puts a ridiculous amount of emphasis on late-round picks. We could draft Troy Aikman, Demarcus Ware, and Larry Allen in the first three rounds, but if we "reached" with our sixth and seventh, he'd give us a C-.

Edit, I just looked it up, and he gave us a B after the draft, but revised that to a C just couple of months ago. Tool.

Or it looks like Dallas had a big copy of Goose'a top 100 in the war room...

According to his 100, my boy Mckinley can be had in the 4th or later. Someone's gonna strike gold for that value. I hope it's us. Or we at least get Mike Thomas or Jarett Dillard.... but we probably won't...

we'll just get another TE.

2 of my 3 favorite (and available) WRs aren't listed in his top 100.
Someone's gonna strike gold w/ Kenny Mckinley and possibly Jarett Dillard if they can be had after the 3rd round. Hopefully it will be us...
it probably won't.

I wouldn't rule him out, Dallas has spoken to him in some length

The way it looks right now, that draft was an A.

Let me just imagine for a second that Larry English at 51 and Michael Johnson at 69 is possible.

Maybe I just have an unhealthy obsession with getting good linebackers in here. And maybe I'm pretty sure Greg Ellis is going to need to be directed to the unemployment line here pretty soon. :)

I'd pull my pants down if we got English at 51.

Yeah Irvs, check it out:

Of course, he apparently weighs heavily how much the rooks played. So KC got an A+ and Pittsburgh got an F. Shows you the way this fool thinks.

Anyway... I still think Brinkley is undervalued, apparently even by the pros. I guess they're going off tape from when he was heavier, but if he keeps his weight under 250, I think he has great potential. Maybe I'm just wrong, but I think someone will get a steal.

That's not quite what he does. He simply averages his point values for the players you drafted, and the higher your average, the higher your grade.

That sounds reasonable, until you realize the OBVIOUS point that it's entirely dependent upon where your draft picks are. If you have a lot of high picks, you're going to have a higher average even if you reach on every pick. If you don't pick in the first four rounds but get steals with all of your picks in the fifth, sixth and seventh, you're still going to have a very low average.

I expect Goose to give us a truly terrible draft grade this season -- even if we get great value for every pick. We don't draft until No. 51, and we have a ton of second-day picks, so our average player value is going to be very low.

On the other hand, Buffalo or Denver could reach with both of their first-round picks, then trade the rest of their picks for Joe Berger and still get an "A" from Goose because they'd have a very high average for the two players they picked. Never mind that they did a terrible job with the picks they had.

It could be due to his lack of instincts. Even with his good 40 time, he doesn't have that explosive first step. Even before he got injured, he was still rated a 2 down player. He is physical and great straight line speed, but he does not read and recognize plays that great so tends to react rather than attack. He will knock the snot out of you when he gets a head of steam though.
