fair enough, i kind of agree with you to be honest. but its such a pathetic law in my opinion. i didn't agree with it before and i don't now. in saying that its a choice between paying 40 pounds or getting a criminal record so obviously you just bite your lip and pay the fine. would still rather my police were out trying to prevent or solve real crimes rather than fundraising with stupid fines.

BS laws make real criminals unfortunately. Not much you can do about it, and yeah it's ****ty. If you weren't doing anything disruptive than the cop must have been bored, or an *******. I've had drinks in public places and sidewalks many times before never been hassled.

Here in the US, we just paper bag it and the cops dont bother us. I don't know how it is in the UK but we usually put our beer just far enough that cops can't mess with us. Keep your beer bagged and at least six feet away until you want a swig. Pretty common practice around here.

on my way up to celtic park for the football. got fined 40 quid (just over 60 dollar) for drinking in the street. ok i know its against the law but realistically do they not have proper crimes to chase up rather than filling their paperwork criteria with someone having a bottle of beer. apart from anything else if i'd been left to drink it the bottle would have gone in the bin but the police forced me to leave it lying in the middle of the pavement where its liable to get smashed and cut someone. still absolutely raging!

What's the purpose of such a law? That nobody drinks while going to a football match? How crazy is that... Football, beer and sausage must not be divided. EVER!

who do you support? i was over in hamburg for the game in the europa league last month, it was brilliant being able to have a beer on our way up. went to the st. pauli game the next night and we were even getting beer in the stadium. seemed so strange! beer, currywurst and the football was indeed an amazing combination.

I support Dortmund. And I almost puked when I saw Hamburg getting Celtic in the EL. The refs handed Hamburg the win on the last day last season with a blatant non offside call in stoppage time which did cost us Europe... It should have been us
Actually, some fans in Dortmund still have a good relationship to Celtic, I often see celtic scarfs or jerseys in the stadium.
