This has the potential to be an F draft if Schoonnmaker and Mazi bust and its 50/50 on those guys.
That‘s the case for any draft for any team. You’re top 2 picks bust you’re draft is a failure.

Smith has a low bust potential if you grade him on what he was drafted to do... Anyone who is expecting him to be A Donald can go ahead and mark this down as a bust because most likley he is not that... if you grade him on what he brings to our run defence then i believe you will be very happy.
no .he is drafted to shore up our run D.if that doesnt improve then we can assume he is bust.

I think we are saying the same thing... if he cant clog the middle then yeah that would be a huge disappointment.

Love them picking a DT. Whole draft seemed like a complete disregard for value. My vote was C factoring in free agency.

They say every pre draft that free agency freed them to grab the best player and to me, they consistently fall short on taking advantage of that “freedom”. I think they probably are just old in mentality and courage, and young in their approach to public relations.

I give it a C+. I liked Mazi and not so much the rest of the class. I would have preferred we use a 4th round pick to move up in round 2 to draft one of the younger, more talented TE's. They had had a whole day to figure out day 2 and try to anticipate what other teams would do and just botched it. Once Kincaide was off the board, the priority should have been securing Mayer or La Porta day 2.

I am not a fan of the blitzing LB we drafted from Texas in round 3. He doesn't upgrade anything. We are already one of the best pass rushing teams in the NFL and our blitzing LB is Micah Parsons. Since we were drafting the Michigan team, we should have just taken their K. That at least would have upgraded something.

I like Mazi alot. He fills a glaring hole and has superstar potential. The ceiling is high, worst case, we've improved the weakness of an otherwise dynamic defense. Favorite pick of the draft.

Overshown is an impressive player. As others have said, it looks like he will fit into the role we see Kearse playing. Looks good in coverage, and is ferocious when he has a line on the ball carrier. Tough, hard-nosed player that brings the heat. Nice selection, but I would've considered OG or RB at that spot.

I knew nothing of Fehoko when the pick was made. ESPN had him ranked in the 200's and passing up a RB and OG again in the 4th really ticked me off...so naturally I hated the pick initially. After reading up on him and watching a bit of film, I've changed my stance. At 278, he's projected at 3T. I like this idea, because when you watch his film, his power and quickness for a guy his size jumps off of the screen. I don't see an explosive rusher from the edge, buy he has a nice initial burst, good balance, a strong base, and a good nose for the ball. He's already built thick, and I think he can add another 20 lbs without compromising his athleticism. Could give Osa a run for his money for that starting 3t spot next season, nice jack of all trades along the line this year. Solid pick.

I'm not sure how Deuce Vaughn's game translates to the NFL, but he sure was fun to watch in college. Explosive and quick, plays faster than his timed 40, will make alot of defenders look silly. Listed at 5'5 179lbs, so durability is a big concern in the NFL. Will be playing in a platoon with Pollard, Jones, and maybe Davis which limits those concerns. Reminds be a bit of Quentin Griffin out of Oklahoma many years ago, but not as thick. Griffin showed flashes with Denver, but his body wore out before he could establish himself. If utilized properly, Vaughn can be a difference maker, but I don't think we will see him in a lead role in the NFL. Considering the state of the RB position, I like the pick in the 6th, but would've liked to see the position addressed sooner.

I'll have a look at the other guys over the next couple of days, but so far I'm seeing some tough, hard-nosed players that improve the team. I'm seeing a team that is allocating assets to build an elite defense, and I love it. Hopefully the Cooks trade moves the needle enough to fix the struggles we saw against SF. I think it will. Factoring in the picks traded for Cooks, Gilmore, and Hankins, and based on what I've seen from the selections so far, I'm comfortable giving this draft a B+, possibly A-.

I think the draft picks used on veteran players should be added in to that year's draft. Otherwise where did those picks go?

So feel free to add in Brandin Cooks, Stephon Gilmore and Johnathan Hankins if you want. Or don't, if you don't agree with me. It's your call.

If you want to add a + or - to your grade post it in the thread. Too many options for a poll.

1(26) Mazi Smith DT Michigan
2(58) Luke Schoonmaker TE Michigan
3(90) DeMarvion Overshown LB Texas
4(129) Viliami Fehoko DE San Jose St.
5(169) Asim Richards T North Carolina
6(178) Eric Scott Jr. CB Southern Miss
6(212) Deuce Vaughn RB Kansas St.
7(244) Jalen Brooks WR South Carolina
Lost 2024 5th Round Pick (Kansas City)
I don’t pretend to know these players like most of you do. My grade of A is purely based on recent draft history.

And this FO has had very good drafts recently for sure...A is probably too high for me but not crazy, again there is a very good chance they have 4 to 5 1st year contributors from this class with 3 to 4 being every game players...that would be an A for sure.

I think based on what they wanted to do they did pretty well
Like you I would have went oline earlier
They didn’t do what I would have done but they did a solid job of doing what they wanted.
If you value a true NT you got the best in the draft
I was shocked they didnt get a complimentary young back. I stronger more well rounded back that can run with power.

I guess they feel Davis can do that and they have Jones too. Thing is you aren’t gonna have deuce, pollard, Davis and Jones all active unless someone can do something on ST
I don’t see pollard on ST this year and Jones doesn’t do ST
