I guess they feel Davis can do that and they have Jones too. Thing is you aren’t gonna have deuce, pollard, Davis and Jones all active unless someone can do something on ST
I don’t see pollard on ST this year and Jones doesn’t do ST
The fact that they wouldnt want better than Jones and Davis is odd.

I voted C. I really liked what we did in FA with picks and thought the draft would be an aggressive push with WR, TE, RB, G, and maybe even a late QB. I thought we failed by trying to have this “tough” or “trench” theme at times. Was just a weird or uncomfortable draft. I liked our 3rd and 6th with Vaughn. I think Mazi is solid but besides that I thought they skipped a lot on better value when they really had nothing holding them back in rolling dice.

Schulz was never considered a good blocking TE and LS is considered very good in that department.
I mean, that's college. I want to see him do it in the NFL before I judge. I hope he blocks well and does what Schultz did in the passing game for Dak. Would love for him to be an upgrade but he was ranked the 6-7th best TE for a reason. Projected in the 4th round by most scouts and we took him in the 2nd. Little bit of a reach from the start but hopefully he turns out worth it.

I like Mazi alot. He fills a glaring hole and has superstar potential. The ceiling is high, worst case, we've improved the weakness of an otherwise dynamic defense. Favorite pick of the draft.

Overshown is an impressive player. As others have said, it looks like he will fit into the role we see Kearse playing. Looks good in coverage, and is ferocious when he has a line on the ball carrier. Tough, hard-nosed player that brings the heat. Nice selection, but I would've considered OG or RB at that spot.

I knew nothing of Fehoko when the pick was made. ESPN had him ranked in the 200's and passing up a RB and OG again in the 4th really ticked me off...so naturally I hated the pick initially. After reading up on him and watching a bit of film, I've changed my stance. At 278, he's projected at 3T. I like this idea, because when you watch his film, his power and quickness for a guy his size jumps off of the screen. I don't see an explosive rusher from the edge, buy he has a nice initial burst, good balance, a strong base, and a good nose for the ball. He's already built thick, and I think he can add another 20 lbs without compromising his athleticism. Could give Osa a run for his money for that starting 3t spot next season, nice jack of all trades along the line this year. Solid pick.

I'm not sure how Deuce Vaughn's game translates to the NFL, but he sure was fun to watch in college. Explosive and quick, plays faster than his timed 40, will make alot of defenders look silly. Listed at 5'5 179lbs, so durability is a big concern in the NFL. Will be playing in a platoon with Pollard, Jones, and maybe Davis which limits those concerns. Reminds be a bit of Quentin Griffin out of Oklahoma many years ago, but not as thick. Griffin showed flashes with Denver, but his body wore out before he could establish himself. If utilized properly, Vaughn can be a difference maker, but I don't think we will see him in a lead role in the NFL. Considering the state of the RB position, I like the pick in the 6th, but would've liked to see the position addressed sooner.

I'll have a look at the other guys over the next couple of days, but so far I'm seeing some tough, hard-nosed players that improve the team. I'm seeing a team that is allocating assets to build an elite defense, and I love it. Hopefully the Cooks trade moves the needle enough to fix the struggles we saw against SF. I think it will. Factoring in the picks traded for Cooks, Gilmore, and Hankins, and based on what I've seen from the selections so far, I'm comfortable giving this draft a B+, possibly A-.
I don’t share all of your optimism or the grade but I appreciate the thought put into your post.

I'm not familiar with any of these guys at all. I have no idea what grade to hand out. I do believe they went after tough players with good athletic ability and football intelligence. From what I've seen of the TE we drafted, he's a hard nosed blocker with good hands. He ain't flashy, but he does his job well. All that said, we'll know more in a couple years if this was a boom or bust. I'm really happy about finally spending a top draft pick on a real DT.

The number one killer for me is taking a soon to be 25 year old TE for depth in the 2nd round. When a potential starting left guard in O’Cyrus Torrence was available. The other problem I have was no interest in a RB or QB. Hopefully Vaughn can contribute.

Think that’s why they traded for Cooks. And still have faith in Tolbert. It’s time for guys to step up.
Don't think for a second they didn't it was a weak class for WRs. Noticed they brought in FIVE for 30 visits. That alone tells ya they had trouble finding what they like.

BTW.......As you know they also brought in 5 TEs.......it appears Mayer was never on their radar and they apparently were as high on Kincaid as we thought.

Not sure I heard 4th round. I heard 2nd-3rd.

With TE's most of these pundits are rating these guys on their ability to catch the football rather than block. Like most fans do. They only see the tangible skill that shows up on the TV and in the stats.

So different teams are going to rank TE's differently. Teams that wanted the best pass catcher rated Kincaid as #1. Others that want an all around TE are going to have Mayer as #1.

Depends on what you are looking for. Cowboys wanted an all around guy that could block really well. So they had Shoonmaker rated high and they took him high.

That is true
I expected a RB to be taken. A guy to spell pollard or replace if he’s injured
I like deuce but he’s more of a gadget player to me. I suspect he wasn’t taken for this year myself.
Lets also remember Stephen mentioning wanting a big back. I personally don't think they are done with the position or LG.

They said point blank they wanted to improve the run game and get back to running the football. They did NOTHING other than the TE to accomplish that.

You guys are not scouts so what do you know other than what had been fed to you? Based on the success of Dallas and drafting I trust them over you.

I bet than Vaughn will have more yards per carry than what Zeke had last year.

Have you ever watched much Big 10 football?
I tried, king is dug in, and thats ok to me this pick could swing this draft grade almost 2 slots for me...if this TE is Schultz in the passing game and a good run blocker it will be great, if he is just another Furgeson/ Hendershot then they reached for sure.
