Grade the Oline

Their play has kinda gotten lost in the Dak the injury but all things considered, I'd give them a B, they held their own quite well. Honest question though......do we now put the Martin moving outside talk to rest????

LOL...…………..you have to be joking. Their play is a D without question. Its been terrible. Now considering the injuries you can give them a C-. But a B is just ridiculous. You forget that Dak was making these guys look a lot better than they were. Your going to find out just how bad they really are with Dalton the statue.

The Giants have zero pass rush and decided early on that they rather have Zeke beat them then their receivers.

Biaz. was awful snapping the football, at least two plays caused points for the Giants, early on in the redzone snapped early and then the Dalton Fumble that led to a TD.

The Line was decent today, let's see how they handle a legit pass rusher in Jones next week.

So your blaming the Biaz for the issue and not the new QB situation with Dalton? These guys have never played together in a real game. I have also never heard anyone say that a guy was awful snapping the ball.

Think I read somewhere today the cowboys OL ranks 3rd in run & 9th or 10th in pass protection.

Not sure if true. If so thats A material. However the "eye" test i would say a B or B-

I will assign an INC to McGovern, as in INCOMPLETE.

Dude, where they hell are you? We've heard so much about you and were counting on you benching CWill.

He needs time to develop.

more strength and foot work.

The staff clearly likes him. Even more then Knight. They must think he's a guy who just needs snaps. Me, I'd have stuck Zack at LT and gone with McGovern and Knight on the right. We may still see that. I get the sense that this staff doesn't want two rookies next to each other but that may change as Biadasz shows he's in control of the game.

considering that both tackles and center are back ups a "C" is better then I expected
I expected tackle to be a priority in up coming draft now not so much but a guard may be considered.
I'm thrilled we have effectively replace Fred beard so quickly.

Agree with you on your first assessment, 100%.

Your second statement........Gurode says hello.

I will just say that they are performing better than I thought they would given the situation they find themselves in. I think every team out there who loses a Pro Bowl center before the season, you go into the season with RT out and then lose your LT, then you lose your backup center\Guard in Looney, would struggle and they have at times but they are also part of a league leading offense. My opinion OL coach and McCarthy deserve credit,

Steele may be the key from here on out. Experience and development should help his cause.

Let's hope so, at least. I'll bet the o-line coaches are doing all they can to make it happen. ;)

Not the powerful run blocking OL we had the last 4 years but they've done ok in pass blocking. Especially for their draft status. The problem is this is getting a putrid defense more exposed as we can no longer hide behind a running game. Most importantly we need to just sustain drives that result in TD's since we know the opponents will put up atleast decent numbers against us.

I'm not grading but it seemed like in the run game the OL got more movement in this game than they've had the whole year, maybe including the past couple of years.

Somehow that seemed to disappear after the last TD drive.

I was going to ask earlier in the week if we had stopped running zone runs because I couldn't remember the last time I saw the Cowboys run them (maybe I'm going senile). Today they ran a bunch and ran play action off them (well the PA came first then the runs; maybe that's why the holes were so huge for awhile?).

In pass offense IIRC they were bad at the beginning but got better as the game went on.
True.

People (not saying you in particular) need to recognize who we are playing.

Cleveland and Seattle have good run defenses but horrible pass defenses.
EVERYBODY can pass on them. (Seattle has given up > 400 yards passing every single game, and 500 twice)
Combine that with us falling behind, and you get a recipe for 400+ yards passing and less running....and a loss.

New York was not as challenging to run on but actually a bit better vs the pass.
As a result (and Dallas not falling way behind after halftime) Dak had only thrown for 166 yards thru nearly 3 qtrs, but Zeke had a very nice day

Yes, but I am expecting more of a conservative offense under Dalton. He isn't a QB that is going to be successful passing the football 40 times a game. He also isn't as mobile as Dak, they can ill afford to get him hurt as well. Zeke becomes the #1 option for this offense moving forward.
Dak has not been successful passing 40+ times a game unless you value stats more than wins. Dalton may finally push the coaches into trying a more balanced offense, which they should have been doing all along.

The slow starts from Dak and the offense have been horrible. It started last year and has continued into this season. Turnovers, three and outs, etc, has plagued the offense early in these games and it puts a lot of pressure on this terrible defense.

The thing is, even with Zeke putting up numbers last year I really don't remember the last time the OL was able to move people around like they did on Sunday. But then I can't remember the last time the Cowboys used zone runs so heavily, or used playaction based off zone runs. Perfectly balanced run/playaction in the sense they all looked the same. Moore should do that more often.

What about moving Martin outside...buy or sell???????

Nahh. Martin could handle it but I'd rather give Steele some rope or see if Erving or the street signings like Senat can give us average play at RT.

But that said, if McGovern comes on strong I would do it.
