Greatest Football names ever (Cowboys and Leaguewide)

NFL Favorite: Ironhead Heyward , Bennie Blades, Bam Morris.

Cowboys favorite: middle linebacker Markus Steele, even though he was a spare. Marcus Spears has a good one, too.

College favorite: TCU Quarterback Tye Gunn

No doubt.

Also, Bill Bates... if you didn't know who he was it just sounds like someone who could lay the wood to somebody.

That's just because we are associating the name with the player. If we didn't know the player the name would be about as bland as Joe Smith.

According to Wikipedia he played several seasons with the Commanders.

I think someone is trying to be funny given his indian descent. If you check the Commanders all-time roster he is not listed.

Lou Holtz-era Notre Dame had a very good linebacker named Michael Stonebreaker. Doesn't get much better than that.

Kind of interesting this thread was started. The other day on the local sports talk show they were asking who is the President and Vice President of various stats in terms of local perception in that state of sports figures.

Here in Denver John Elway is the President, no disputing that one but the Vice President is kind of a toss up. To me it would have to be Joe Sakic.

They mentioned Texas and both thought Staubach was the President but werent sure if Emmitt or Troy was the Vice President.

Who can forget about:

Chris Fuamatu-Ma'afala
Obafemi Ayanbadejo
Manu'ula (Manu) Tuiasosopo

How could you name those and forget former Panthers RB Tim Biakabutuka (sp?)

Not quite that bland if you consider he might be Norman's little brother.

I feel used.

The Falcons drafted a defensive back years ago named Anthony Midget. My first thought was "it must have been the intangibles..."
