I saw the Eagles in concert a few weeks ago...Joe Walsh took the building down...in fact, they were great...but he's got that very unique Joe Walsh energy about him...and he's a VERY talented guitarist...

Rocky Mountain Way might have been the highlight of the evening...esp with the talkbox...

Yes I love to hear him play...he has his own style and has that great energy and funny side to him that comes out in his playing.

"Life's Been Good" was also a highlight...and yeah, he's crazy as a fox..

Regarding his style, he does all kinds of subtle off beat rythmns...even in his lead guitar-ing AND he's an excellent slide player..

The first time he spoke he said, "I used to live here in NY. In fact, I went to High School here....it was a great six years"

I love the Eagles but even I can get tired of the seriousness of Henley and Frey...thankfully they are balanced by Walsh and Timothy Schmit (who has great stage presence simply because he's so damn nice)

Someone too look out for is a guy named Sean Hague. He's in Kenny Wayne Shepherds band right now. When we went to see them a few weeks ago Kenny Wayne let him have a solo where he rocked a BB King song.

He's only 21 btw

Luther Allison is another blues guy that is very good...just never made it big because he was cursed by bad publicists and other things.

Anyone that remembers toxic Waltz and the exodus version of lowrider is ok in my book....also Mr Scary is a very wicked piece of guitar work...however I would go with kiss of death over Alone Again.....oh and gotta love Joe Walsh...I liked him MUCH better when he is not with the eagles...not really a big fan of the eagles.

Yes, I like Joe Walsh but not a fan of the Eagles either.

Brain, or anyone for that matter, I have been trying to remember the name of a guitar player that put out a couple of albums between 10 - 15 years ago. He was very young, black guitarist( the whole band was black I think ). It was bluesy rock. I believe his name was Eric or something. I liked his first album a lot.

Any idea who he is?

I knew there was a reason I didn't like the Rolling Stone mag....because they have no clue what the heck they are talking about.

Kirk Hammett, although a good guitarist, can not even hold Dave Mustaines jock and Dave is not even on that list....futhermore there is no way Kirk should be anywhere near the top of that list.

Plus how in the heck can you put Curt Cobain above players like...

Dave Mustaine
Jeff Beck
Carlos Santana
Buddy Guy
Dick Dale
Brian May
John Fogerty
Joe Perry
Pete Townshend
Dicky Betts
Eddie van Halen (noted he is listed at 70)
David Gilmour
Randy Rhoads (listed at 85)
Tony Iommi (listed at 86)
Angus Young (listed at 96)

I do not care if Cobain had a great influence on music with Nirvana...is someone going to tell me that some of those guys did not also have agreat influence (ala Joe Perry, Tony Iommi, Angus Young, Randy Rhoads).

Rolling stones mag is for alternative weenies lol

I agree, when I saw this list I could not believe some of the names they included and or left out or had rated lower than some who are not as talented

Eddie and Angus should not be that low and James Hetfield plays more lead than Kurt.

That is a very odd list. Jack White at 17??? Is he that good? I doubt it.

One name on there that I hadn't thought of though is Ry Cooder. Very good guitarist.
