Dont know about greatest, Man, Staubach and the comebacks, Dorsett and the 99 yarder, Smith, what more needs to be said. Greatest of all time may be the fearless leader for 29 years. Tom Landry.

But all time favorite would be one Manster. Randy White.

Who is the greatest player ever to wear the star? I personally think Aikman but out all the great chocies who would you pick?
I don't even think Aikman is the best quarterback we've ever had.My vote would go for Staubach,Emmitt,or Lilly.

Those 90s teams were the greatest Cowboys teams of all. I know all about the 10+ 10 win seasons and all that but we got owned by Noll and the Steelers in the 70s.

The greatest player on those 90s teams was Emmitt Smith.

Dadgum Gin and Tonic...From now on I stick to DrPepper.

How about Larry Allen in his prime? Wishful thinking, I know. I believe it would have to be at the key position on the field and that is quarterback.

That stated who helped the Cowboys win the most post season games and ultimately NFC championships and Superbowls, Aikman. Greatest individual supporting role Emmit Smith, followed by Michael Irvin.

Most valuable unit, the Oline and ahem, according to my past girlfriends, mine.

LA was one of the top 2 0r 3 OL to have ever played for the Cowboys.....maybe even the best ever.

The greatest teams of the 70's were the Cowboys and Steelers. The greatest teams of the 90's were the Cowboys and 49ers. While the 49ers were formidable last decade, Pittsburgh was much more of an adversary in the 70's than San Francisco was in the 90's. The Team of the 90's was legendary, but they only had to contend with the Bills and Steelers to win championships. Those two teams paled in comparison to the Steel Curtain of the 70's.

Troy...Hambrick, just ask him, he will tell you.

My choice is Emmitt, until his diamond in poo-poo comment, so I'll go back to Roger Staubach and Tom Landry.
Because they made the cowboys the franchise it is and the mystique that Aikman and company carried on.

I don't believe one person can be sigled out as the greatest ever in Cowboys uniform.

Personally, I think these players are the greatest Cowboys of all time:

Bob Lilly
Emmitt Smith
Roger Staubach
Randy White
Bill Bates (even though he lacked talent, he gave everything he had with every play, never took plays off, played much bigger than his size, huge heart, an overachiever)

I won't argue with your opinion about Bill Bates. To me, though, there is a difference between greatest ever and most favorite.

Larry Cole, Preston Pearson, and Charlie Waters are among my all-time most favorite Cowboys. I thoroughly enjoyed watching those guys play. They also tended to be good interviews. I hated to see each and every one of them go. They weren't the greatest, but they were special in their own ways.

Perhaps my single most favorite Cowboys moment ever was watching Larry Cole celebrate after Staubach pulled off one of his earliest unbelievable come-from-behind wins (vs. the 49ers in the playoffs).

Rolling around on the field.
