I know you're in the Goff camp and understand we likely wouldn't trade up for Wentz. My fear is both will be gone bc another team moves to 1 and CLE selects Goff @ 2. I'm okay with trading next year's 1st for the most important position on the team. I meant too many holes to go for need; Bosa, Buckner, Ramsey, etc. If you have the franchise QB and a top OL, half of the rebuild has already begun occurring. So next year's 1st could be given away and would not be upset about it in the least.

Goff would be a great consolation prize, don't get me wrong. I think Wentz is the more "prototype" but we could both be wrong and they both bust. Really it was about thinking for the future in regards to the QB, not LBs/CBs/RBs, etc.

I think Goff is the better QB, but I still am not sure picking a QB is the best option. I still don't think either of these guys are top-10 picks in a strong draft. Furthermore, all the people in the "must take a QB" camp are preaching that as a need. So I don't see the defense that Bosa or Ramsey are more of need picks, particularly when they're both top 5 projections on almost every board--meaning they would almost be locks for BPA at #4. The perfect draft pick is when BPA and need meet.

I like Wentz a lot, but there is far too much discussion about every single constituent part of him instead of the whole thing.

He's aced draft season, but too many are focusing on the trees not the forest

I disagree that Wentz is not BPA in this draft. Specifically because of the position he plays, it takes precedent over blue chip defenders and meets a huge need for the future success of the team. Romo is the HC, OC, etc. as the 4-12 record basically proved this aspect to many observers; even JJ. But we don't value the top rated QB in the draft while only getting to be at 4th overall specifically because the franchise QB was out most of the season.

No problem taking a QB at 4 if they love him that much...but

I played the game for 8 years and know it inside and out but I am always up for a lesson.
