So was Murray in Green Bay, etc.

It is a matter of convenience to single out one play.

Yea but it wasnt just that play. Crayton was a turd that game
He ran his mouth so much before that game too

Bad loss but not the worst to this long-time fan. Super Bowl 13 and "the catch" are up there but the worst I have ever felt after a game was either the 1983 or the 1984 December losses to the Commanders. Both were nightmare games.

Speaking of nightmares, does anyone have video that the overturned Witten first down catch in the 2006 playoff games against the Seahawks?
Wow, You seem to be affected by the same games that I am. Super Bowl 13 was really tough for me being that I live in Steeler country and watched the game with all my Steeler watching family. The refs in that game gave the title "Team of the 70s" to the Steelers. My next worse loss was the 1981 Championship game. I really thought we were going to win the Super Bowl that year. Even after the "Catch" we still had a chance to win it if Drew Pearson doesn't get pulled down by one Eric Wright finger. That game haunted me for years. In fact, it still does.

The two games against the Commanders were tough because back then if you didn't get HFA you were not going to win at RFK or Candlestick. in 1983 we were both 12-2 heading into that loss and in 84 we were beating them pretty good at home in the first half only to see the defense lay an egg in the second half. That loss cost us a playoff bid.

I don't know why I even watch the Cowboys. They have caused me far more pain than joy that's for sure.

As good as the offense was in 2007, the current version has more talent. There's no contest at running back or offensive line; 2016 wins hands down. Owens makes it a closer contest at wide receiver, but all the depth is on 2016 side. Romo was uncannily proficient on 3rd and long in 2007, but Dak is much less mistake-prone.

Cowboys should've won that game. The refs blew that Demarcus Ware offside penalty when the Cowboys defense got them off the field on 3rd down in the 1st qt. Then Amani Toomer scores a td on a busted assignment and they take a 7-0 lead to start the game.

That was the toughest loss I've ever taken as a Cowboys fan.:banghead:

The worst for me was the 49ers loss at candlestick to Steve Young

They lost that game because Wade Philips had no business being the head coach, they were 13-3, that was Bill Parcells team, if Parcells was still the coach I think we probably at the very least get to the SB. Let's see if JG has learned anything about better preparing teams coming off a bye than coach cupcake...

Parcells was burned out and his D scheme was no where near as dominant as Wade's. Ware becomes the most feared pass rusher in league those few years under Wade. The Wade hate and coach cupcake stuff was a complete fabrication, especially dealing with all the internal issues like no control over Garrett who is obviously after his job, Owens-Garrett jockeying for control of offense, Garrett forgetting about run game (Deja vu right), ST coach almost dying, not able to choose players or offensive coaches, etc.

Absolutely HATE that game, I don't blame refs for losses BUT come on. Dallas, at home as the #1 seed gets called for 11 penalties....NY got called for 3.....I sports hate Eli Manning so much, how has that dude never missed a game with that terrible build....

Agree. He is very durable. Also I for one don't know who the backup QB is for the Giants and we have rarely seen or heard about him....

Forgotten by many about the catch is we had many members of our dominant D to stop Montana from marching down the field to get that opportunity ( Too Tall Jones, Randy White etc). Also a horsecollar tackle on Drew Pearson saved the Niners... Otherwise we may have scored
if not at least had a FG attempt. sadly game ended with a sack / fumble recovery ......

I was a younger man back then and still working on my Cowboy anger control. I punched the wooden work bench in my garage that game and broke the watch off my wrist. Afterwards I went inside and baby cried myself to sleep. Really bleeping painful loss.

I usually just turn on Call of Duty and turn my anger towards other online players. No physical pain for me and I keep my watch.

Romo played very well in that 2007 game. Barber was a monster. I re-watched it yesterday and I was amazed at how we gave that game away with gaffes and a few questionable calls.

We had so many positive plays overturned by penalties and others where receivers dropped balls. On one play we are starting to drive and a 14 yard completion is replaced by a 15 yard penalty because of a insanely stupid personal foul. On the very next play it looks like Romo is going to overcome it and Crayton flat drops a pass.

Owens largely drifted into shadows...maybe because of a high ankle sprain. The guy didn't play to the ball that day. There was one pass where Romo did miss TO when he was wide open. But it would have been better had TO sat out.

Yes...very, very painful loss as we were the better team and generally outplayed the Giants.

There have been plenty of painful moments, not so proud of my reactions to some of them. Plenty of joy also. Like at halftime of Super Bowl 27 I was break dancing and singing along with Michael Jackson. We should do a thread with most joyful moments of our Cowboys fandom.
