Greg Ellis gets roached

De-cleated was the original term,,,, then the 70s culture took over.....

De-cleated is the better word for it. Roached sounds really stupid.

In high school our coaches called it "slobber knocked". Had helmet stickers for it. I only ended up with three my junior year. But one of my three won "Slobberknocker of the Year" at the season ending banquet. Tore up my wrist at summer practice my senior year and didn't get to play another down of football again (bummer).

I think the only things we ever said when I was playing was that they laid the wood or something to that effect.

In my high school we had a bat that we called The Hit Stick and anyone who got the biggest hit of the game, each week, would sign then name on it and then get to carry it around for the next week. That was always pretty cool.

I only wish that I'd had the dedication, to working out and such, and the desire to play defense back then the way I do now. I might have actually gotten that thing a few times if I had.

Nowadays you'd get expelled for carrying around a weapon in school.

Everybody knows our slang is better than your slang! :)

The only thing worse for Ellis is if it had been done by a kicker....Buehler excepted, of course.

Everyday in college?
Jobs? What kind of jobs did you get?
Long time?

I think he is talking about a certain illegal herbal supplement.

This thread sucks without some sort of footage.

I saw that last night. It was pretty hilarious.

Alex Smith was pretty physical that game, too. On one of the next couple plays there was an int and he was took out the guy running it back. He gave him a little pick up and threw him to the ground.

It was impressive for a QB.

Yeah they finally found Alex Smith a place on the team where he can actually do something. They should move him to kickoff and punt coverage where he can tackle. It's pretty obvious he isn't a QB.

Hey guys, this is the best I can do for ya!

That reminds me of a play in 2005. He didn't get "roached" or whatever the heck you want to call it. But San Diego ran a reverse and Drew Brees came out on the end and completely stood Ellis up. He blocked him out of the play.

How does that happen to a 6-6 DE/OLB?

I do remember that play.. that was embarrassing as well, but nothing like this. He was laid out by Alex Smith.
