To clarify: the 4 game suspension is upheld and confirmed by the league. The 10 game suspension is still under appeal.

The NFL sent out a memo showing all the League's suspensions......it listed Gregory as 4 games.....everyone ran with it that the 10 game suspension we heard about was overturned....but we don't know if the 10 game suspension was every official to begin with OR that is was official, appealed and overturned....the NFL doesn't announce suspensions until they investigate and the appeals are exhausted so we may never get the truth until he gets suspended or comes back and plays

The second failed test is still pending which is where all the confusion is coming from.

the idea is that Gregory either missed a test after getting his 4 game suspension that would add 6 games to make it a total of 10 games

OR he failed multiple tests in Stage 2 and was advanced to Stage 3 after getting his 4 game suspension and then tested positive for marijuana(not a missed test or other substance) and got another 10 games added to the original 4 games

either way the NFL doesn't announce until the players is notified and appeals so we may not ever really know if he wins the appeal or never failed or missed a second test to begin with

A) its fealty and
B) Landry was dedicated to Hollywood and Martin who were much worse than Gregory and Hardy respectively. Hollywood used to party with Richard Pryor and Martin beat all of his girlfriends when he wasn't abusing cocaine.

He would have gagged at the bad press and that is about it.

A) It is "it's," and not its.
B) You are so typical in assuming everything is American and not old English or Celtic or Hibernian, Mr. New Money/provincial/provencal. If you go back to the root word you will find variations, among them fielty that your Sesame Street tablet does not offer.
And, superior lad, as so far as Landry tolerating Hollywood etc., those were aberrations and not business as usual so allowed by Garrett and Sir Jones.
Today we follow the judicial system involving our players and then treatment, rehab, news conference, relapse, suspension, etc., with bated and sometimes unabated breath. It has become a rite and right of passage, a way of life for players that, as a whole, is our new reality, something Jimmy and Tom would not accept as a way of team life.
They would have gagged at your acceptance of continual or never-ending off-the-field drama.
You seem to live in a small world.
Break out of your parent's basement in East Texas, old fellow.

All this thread is talking about is him playing.

I just hope he gets his life together. Whether it is via football or not is immaterial.
If he has anxiety, or is bi-polar, he needs to get proper medication. Of all the drugs, marijuana is the WORST for anyone predisposed to any of those mental conditions. It increases those mental illnesses more than any drug.

The lad does not know how to handle adversity. He, like millions of other Americans has to resort to outside stimulant to make it through difficult periods.

That's his "demon".

And millions have it.
i would think "demon" is a bit extreme in this case.

So let me clear it up. It hasn't been announced yet but of course he will have his suspension extended. There is confusion as to whether the next level makes it 10 games total or an additional 10 games making it 14 games total. In summary, the next real news we will hear about Gregory is that he is suspended for either 10 or 14 games. The smart money is he never plays another down for the Cowboys. I hope he gets straight and realizes his potential but that is highly unlikely. I do think the team will stick it out through whatever suspension he get and give him another shot but if it happens again after that, he will be gone.

It's true. Self-medication for mental illness almost always ends in disaster.

Dallas Cowboys Freeze Frame: Why Care About Randy Gregory?

Many fans dismiss his rookie season contributions as non-existent, given that he had zero sacks. But sportingcharts.com lists him as having eight hurries, and the Cowboys credit him with 16 pressures. With only taking 244 total defensive snaps, that’s a pressure every 15.25 snaps (assuming all eight of the "hurries" were also "pressures"). Not passing snaps, but total snaps. That’s pretty good.

But the film is even better. As a rookie, Randy Gregory showed a maturity and variety of pass rushing skills to go with his outstanding physical traits. As we discussed in my previous piece, his future is very much up in the air right now, but Dallas absolutely needs his help and he can be the major missing piece for this defense if he can get clean and get on board.

Still holding out hope.

That's great, assuming he can stop smoking weed and stay on the bloody field. If he can't stay on the field, he could be the most talented at his position in history and it won't help the team.

Didn't Denver have to wait out the problems of Von Miller.............he faced multiple suspensions over time also.....they were rewared with him almost single handedly handing them a ring........This is a time JJ and crew need patience but firm "help"

And they do not need to be cute and try to get good players who fell because of characters issues.

Just take guys where their talent and behavior puts them in the draft .......

Tired of the "wildcatting **********" nonsense.

I feel bad for the young guy I have witnessed a friend who is not a famous athlete going through the same and it really is a battle for them. As much as Gregory pisses me off I have to keep my temper down and remember to pray for the young man that is in an inner battle.
