Suspension or not, the dude doesn't really want to play football anyway.

he's still facing a longer suspension. I am not counting on him and won't until he plays a a few seasons with production. If he doesn't come around soon, I'd cut him and move on. Save the fan base from worrying about a player that hasn't do a thing yet in the league.

All that aside, I hope he gets his life together first and can be a man. Then if he can, try to play ball. In that order.

I feel your pain, but do you really think he was going to do anything without a camp, probably out of shape and a head that obviously isn't worried about football first. Again, I hope the man gets better and gets his life in order. If he wants to smoke, sure go ahead, but if he wants to play football he will need to grow up fast. Hope the Boys can see fit to draft and sign the necessary talent before the offense gets too old.

Gregory still facing prospect of 10-game suspension

It remains unclear when Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory will be back on the field in 2016.

On Saturday, Gregory found out that his four-game suspension for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse became official. However, Gregory is still appealing his 10-game suspension for another substance abuse violation, a source informed of the situation told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport on Sunday.

The 23-year-old Gregory enrolled into a treatment program earlier this summer, Rapoport previously reported. The Cowboys placed the pass rusher on the reserve/did not report list before camp. He remains in a treatment program.

EDITOR'S NOTE: An earlier version of this story reported that Gregory had won his 10-game suspension appeal. He is still appealing the suspension.

Guess I'm still lost, is it 4 or 10 games.

Right now, it's 4 games.

At some point, the NFL will decide if the suspension stays at 4 games or increases to 10 due to a reported missed test while Randy Gregory was at the treatment center (he evidently left one weekend and missed a scheduled test). The NFL may hold an appeal hearing or may come to a decision without one. The Medical Director supervising Gregory will have enormous input in the verdict.

Thanks, all this was confusing. So its much ado about nothing.

No matter what we think of the man personally, his presence on the field could help us immensely with our present situation. Now I'm sure he's nowhere near football shape, but I will be rooting for the guy for our sakes cause we need anything we can get at DE. We shouldn't ignore the fact that we drafted him with all that risk cause we desperately needed help at the position, so the risk was taken. Sure its burned us so far, but when we are desperate, sometimes you swing and miss.

Hopefully he can get control of his personal life and bring the talent we saw from the beginning to the table.

Your right all good points. I think the only reason I had any hope for Gregory was lack of a better option. These DEs scare me. I dont feel nearly as bad with Dlaw, but right now Id be shocked if they play better than advertised. And like a broken record I still cant believe we didnt scoop up Freeney.
