7.) Second-round pick Randy Gregory is working hard to gain weight this offseason. He weighed in at 235 during the scouting combine in February. The team would like to see him closer to 250-255. Although the hot weather caused him to vomit during Wednesday’s practice, Gregory said his weight is already up to 243.

9.) With Dez Bryant not at OTAs this week, second-year wide receiver Devin Street continued to get more opportunities with the first-team offense. “I do think he has grown physically over the last year,” Jason Garrett said. “He’s stronger, he’s quicker, he’s faster. Those are all measurable things we have seen in our strength and conditioning program. And that stuff is starting to show up on the field.”

I was surprisingly light when I got here,” Gregory said, via Charean Williams of theFort Worth Star-Telegram. “I’ve gained a lot since I got here, surprisingly with the amount of running we do out there.

“We’ve still got time. I’m just slowly gaining weight as I go. I know the coaches are happy about it. I’m happy about it obviously. It’s going to help my game out. It hadn’t hurt my game at all as far as my conditioning and like that. That’s just another aspect of my game I’ve got to work on.”

There are plenty of those, as he admits getting worked over in practice by left tackleTyron Smith on a regular basis. But Smith does that to a lot of people, so Gregory is trying to use it as motivation.

“That’s probably the only thing that keeps me going,” Gregory said. “I was saying that in my head last night. As much as he beats me every day, hopefully the game will be a lot easier. Usually it is if you do the right things in practice, go hard in practice, work on little details in practice, then the games usually come easier. . . .

Games are not won and lost on Sundays. They're won in preparation and practice.

@AdamJT13 Street is about to take your boys position as #2. This is what is needed. Competition

Something tells me Adam cares more about productivity than he does the name on the shirt.

Glad to hear good things about Street. He was one of the picks I was really excited about last season. He's got he ability to be sneaky-good. I like the players who are smart, versatile, and always in the right position. Guys who can position their body to catch balls when they look like they're covered. That stuff's demoralizing. I always love listening to Giants fans complain about Witten doing that stuff to them in slow motion all the time.

Streat getting faster is nice, getting stronger is great. Another year in the system, hes a good route runner. Building up physical abilities to block and win battles and hes well on his way to competing to start. Im rooting for him.

Surprised Gregory keeps the weight on with all the puking at practice.

I wish I had trouble gaining weight.

I hear you. When I went to college my coach was so concern about my weight that he gave me a list of pizza places in town. In 4 years of college I gained only 12 lbs and 10 of that was muscle. Now, if I even look at food on TV or in a magazine, I gain about 5 lbs. it is tough getting old.

But how is it we saw literally nothing during games last year? Even when he was in for mop up duty he didn't blow anyone away. We have the same depth as last year at wr, with maybe a bit more commitment to Beasley due to his new contract

Because he was a rookie last year and with development and progress can get better

I understand that, and obviously there's something to him for the coaches to have so much hope in him. It's just that over the years there's been guys who have done decent in first couple years before becoming solid contributers (Austin, Hurd, Crayton, etc), all showed flashes of something. Street was very quiet

Was he, though? He played a fair number of snaps for what was basically a rookie 6th option on a team that ran the ball a fair percentage of it's offensive plays.

His contribution must have come in knowing his assignments and in the blocking game. It shows up on tape when a guy is here he's supposed to be and is making his adjustments properly at all three WR positions. All the WR can do, really, is be as open as possible as he can be for the play progression. If the QB goes elsewhere for a good reason, that's not a bad outcome.

Most WRs don't start becoming effective in the NFL until years 2 and 3.

I would love to see a Randle like leap in terms of athleticism for Street.... hoping for the best... he was a really smooth and cerebral player in college.

Quicker, faster and stronger -- h-m-m. Now, I'm wondering if he leaps over tall buildings in a single bound. Just kidding. Not 100% sure if it's all true or if Garrett is basically pumping up his confidence. Sounds good, though. Lord knows, Street needed to do something to increase his production. Hopefully, it'll show up in live action. I'll cut him some slack since it's only year two for this youngster. He'll bear watching in TC and on the field throughout the year. Let's wish him well.
