Gregory assessment?

He was a huge liability against the run in the first half but showed up some in the second half despite a strained abdomen and displayed great effort fighting through the injury.

He shouldn't be out there

1. You're 12-2

2. You have a chance to win the SB

3. Are you that unaware that you throw a guy out there(game 15) who has failed multiple drug test?

4. First chance you get, you just throw him out there w no regard for what he did to let the team and the organization down?

I'm talking to Jerry

His *** should be red shirted this season

All money ain't good money. Roll with the guys who did it the right way.

That's exactly it IMO, but they knew that when they drafted him. OCs can run at him but he has pass rushing skills that can't be taught. It didn't show up in the box score but he had a hit on Stafford where he came from the opposite side, sliced between several DL and got a good hit on Stafford as he threw the ball. It wasn't a sack, but few DEs have those type of movement skills.
That particular play jumped right off of the screen at me too. Pure instinct & God given talent.

His issues with the run had more to do with recognition than strength at the poa. It's not like he was getting pushed around. He was late to react, took bad angles, and the like.

He looks very quick off the ball. He saw several double teams where the guard passed off the tackle to the center and helped on the inside after he slanted clean into the B gap before they could react.

When he got good hand placement he was able to control the OT. Ended up with several pressures in limited snaps.

Showed toughness playing through the oblique.

Goes to show you that you can't get in real game shape without pads and hitting.

The run D will improve with repetitions. Everyone thought Mayowa would always be horrible vs the run but he is night and day from where he was at the beginning of the year.

I think you guys are hard on him. He was good on some plays and needs improvement on others. He wasn't that bad and got better as the game went on. He was doubled as well. Y'all have to remember he has missed all training camp and preseason. He isn't gonna to play like nothing happen just like at Adrian Peterson this season

He's got a ton of ability. He needs to do himself the favor of letting him stay on the field to develop it, because he's got some work to do.

The possibility that Irving is putting it all together here with back to back pressure games is encouraging.

He's a couple of weeks away. He got 3 pressures that I saw, 1 tackle and 2 assists.

They don't show pressures in the NFL.com stats, though.

David Irving had 4 pressures that I noticed, 1.5 sacks and forced a fumble. We have a couple weeks to figure out who to complement Irving with off the other edge. Right now a rotation of Mayowa, DLaw and Gregory would work.

you want moe punishment?

I would like to see him capture the corner more in pass rushing.

We had a DL rotation of 5 guys last night.

I think it's okay to let him play in that situation.

Plus, like you say, you don't know if he's going to be available. That means he also COULD be available, too. Makes sense that we make sure he's ready to go if his number is called in the playoffs.

He looked really talented and played with a lot of effort, but undisciplined.

That's to be expected when you have very little NFL experience.

Not sure why some are beating him up for his size. He's not exactly a small guy right now.

Got better as the game went on to the point , imo he was flashing the raw speed we knew he had and was actually using it well.

I liked what I saw. Has rare explosion. Would be nice to see him get more experience

I think this showed his teammates that he's serious about playing.

There were a few plays where he immediately took a knee after the play, holding his side. He was obviously in a bit of pain, but he gutted it out. THAT was impressive IMO b/c he got more snaps than I expected.

Like we saw w/ other DL, sacks are great but consistant pressure that disrupts the QB is just as vital and he did enough IMO (2tackles, 1qb hit). his quickness showed. That could be useful.

With Mayowa stepping up and Irving hopefully emerging...AND with Tank Lawrence getting ~5weeks of rest...I hope this rotation can disrupt the passer regardless of who is in.

Hopefully Gregory's oblique is OK and he can go more snaps next week..

Right now it is hard for any of us to criticize anything the Cowboys are doing.

With the information we have then maybe you could say it's a bad idea to play Gregory but with all of the information they have they decided to let him play and i'm ok with it.
