Gregory in trouble? **merged**

He would not go to his doctor to get test results. Not for drug test. They call you and tell you “surprise you get a random drug test” and you have to drop what your doing and go to the nearest place for test. They may call you in conjunction with the NFL for failed results. But if you pass then they don’t call.

If he is meeting with doctors then it’s likely a final physical and mental and drug test before regular season. And the NFL will hound this man for the rest of his career with random drug tests. Gregory has a rough road and a quick road out of the NFL if he smokes again.

You would have to show me where it's "typical" that a player's fate is decided by one "special meeting" just before the season starts. If you can do that, I'll accept your "league policy" theory.

Look above.

Someone cited the league policy. Prior to return to practice or a game, the player has to meet with a doctor before being given final clearance.

So it's quite possible that per his agreement, he has to meet with the doctor before he's given full clearance to play in the regular season.

3.2.3 Examination in Connection With Reinstatement
Players who have completed a suspension imposed under this Policy or have been reinstated from banishment must be given a physical examination and physically cleared by the Team Substance Abuse Physician before they may participate in contact drills or a game. Such examination shall not include drug testing.

Although JJT says he's meeting with a league doctor and the regulation states a team doctor (teams have to designate a substance abuse doctor). It's possible this is different or JJT is just wrong.

I gather this is about his mental state and the prescribed drugs he's been given to cope with his issues.

Yeah, it’s not really news... but people will write anything about the Cowboys because they’re so popular.

I disagree that it's not news, it's just slightly sensationalized news. If it's a routine check that's part of what he has to go through, it should be stated that way. Instead, the writers are leaving it open for speculation.

It’s weird wording, but it sounds like if he doesn’t go to the doctor’s appointment then he will be suspended, not that the doctor’s appointment is to determine if he will be suspended. o_O

Not to me it doesn't.

It sounds more like a follow-up to his having gone AWOL from his requirements they other day.

As in now the league will subject him to an immediate test to make sure he didn't use while he disappeared, under a doctor's direct supervision. And if he fails it, he's done.
To me that is close to business as usual. Any reason will see him tested... we should expect that.

And yes, if he fails, he’s gone. Again though, that is something we expected and it will hover over him for his whole career.

So both of us are in the same position: Hoping he didn’t use when he went off the reservation. And that is a place I expect to be often just because he’s so good and I don’t want him gone.

I think the doctor group is called "Offices of Mara and Goodell"....apparently they received their degrees at the school SCREW U
If that was the case Jerry would be at the appointment dropping his drawers and bending over...

I swear the media is trying super hard to make this all a bigger deal than it is. I get "it's their job to report" but they're trying to make a mountain out of mole hill.

I think the mods should just close this. If there really were Gregory trouble like Canfora said, we would've heard by now.

Then we agree

He's already gone through that process. And people should know that. He's already participated in both practices and games. This is obviously something different.

I think it’s just one last test before going into the season. Fingers crossed he passes

Wondering if this is an old tweet from when he was partially reinstated and then got fully reinstated for training camp.

Yeah, we're in complete agreement.

My own opinion is that this is a league-mandated condition that was precipitated by his recent AWOL episode.

He'll be scolded, tested, and if he passes, let off with a warning not to do it again. And I'm good with that.

But it won't stop me from biting my fingernails awaiting the results. And I think it's par for the course with this guy going forward.

I feel that he can be a huge contributor to this defense, and if he fails this test , his loss would be a huge one.
