Could it? I hope you are right, but I've never been as sold on Gregory as some are. I tend to think of him as more of a role player - a pass rush specialist rather than an every down player, and one that still hasn't made much of a mark in that role despite being drafted 5 years ago.

At this point he will soon be 28 years old, has only played in 28 games out of a possible 80 (not including playoffs) and with him missing all of 2019, and with Griffen and Lawrence both being solid as the starters at DE in 2020, I'm not convinced Gregory will contribute enough in 2020 to make his value go up much.

I hope after the season you are telling me how wrong I was though.

Griffin and Lawrence are traditional 4-3 DEs but Smith and Gregory are good fits as 3-4 OLBs. I could see sets using a 5 man rush with Hill or Crawford in the middle. That could be pretty brutal on an opposing OL.

Can you believe this guy can make 2.1 million in 1 year after all he has done? lol

If he shows out this season, that $2.1M will be pocket change next year. If he, let's say post double-digit sacks, you kiss that goodby for either a new deal or hold out.

Probably good because the price could only go up if we wait.
I don't think the rest of the league is circling the date Gregory becomes a FA on their calendars right now and not sure half a season of rotating in and out with the rest of our DEs will change that for a guy who is suspended more than he plays

I would say Gregory owes Jerry a year or two at a bargain price

Why??????? He would have still gotten his 2nd or 3rd chance, with or without Dallas. NFL is stubborn when it comes to giving up on talent, especially if the player is still young.

Double digit sacks? From your lips to God's ears, but I don't even see that as a possibility

Let's call it "double-digit sack pace", as in he would have hit 10 if he played 16 games and not say he'll hit it in 10 games and I'm with you ;)
I like that better.

Gregory's last chance to make a first impression, again. Sure hope this doesn't blow up in smoke.

He's played in a total of 28 games since being drafted in 2015.

Been suspended for like 3 seasons for off the field behavior he is responsible for.

It seems to me that he has a debt to the Cowboys.

I understand that but the Cowboys haven't paid anything for games missed but I'm guessing you're thinking a sense of loyalty for standing by him. That's my point, Randy has enough talent and is young enough that he would get the same chance with another team if he was released at any time by the Cowboys. I remember reading a tweet from a GM who said the NFL never gives up on top talent unless it becomes a legal issue or serious public trust.......JMO.

I would Gregory gives Jerry a good deal on his first free agent contract. I wouldn't be surprised if he got a contract extension next offseason.

He would be a restricted free agent after the season. A 2nd round tender would probably be around 3 million so I guess a little discount here. I would have almost preferred to wait on the season if we were going to sign him just another year.
