It's funny some were saying the same thing about Lawrence THIS year until he started getting sacks. I think Gregory will be alright.

Gregory's 2015 performance
He ended the year with 0 sacks in 12 games.

Its a concern seeing a how that is what he was brought here to do. A bigger concern is Haley told him what he needed to do and it didnt seem to register.

The guy battled a high ankle sprain for 2/3 of the season. During that stretch and onward, he battled Hardy for significant snaps. In addition to those two crippling scenarios, he battled an offense that never put the defense in a position to pin its ears back.

I have watched All-22 every week and there may be three games tops, where I didn't come away completely confident that Gregory is going to be a player. He was a total menace when they actually starting running stunts. With a little more beef, he will be a beast on those next season.

Those claiming he "got blown off the ball against the run" are making that argument based on pure speculation, not actual game play. Gregory actually stood his ground admirably when run at.

By comparison, Vic Beasley was a starter and played significant snaps in every Falcons game this year and finished with four sacks. He had four sacks in likely 3-4x as many snaps. This is from the guy who was considered hands down the best pass rusher in the draft.

Stop looking for things to ***** and moan about. Gregory is going to be fine, just like Lawrence was. I had to make an almost identical post to this last year at this time for those people crying about Lawrence's production.

I agree. For me it comes down to is he willing to put in the hard work and dedication during the offseason? I think he has a lot of the skills sets to be a very good player for the Cowboys. He will need to add some size and strength to his game if he does he will be fine

This is a product of the media making someone a god before they even take a snap. You'll fall right into the trap every time. He was hailed as the next Ware. This will back fire on front office, this guy along with Jones are busts.

You are ready to declare him a bust after one year? You aren't ignorant enough to be referring to Byron Jones as a bust are you? Is there a way to block people on this forum? I demand answers!!!

Just can't judge a guy based on his rookie year. Hopefully he makes that jump. I saw some good things from him. Didn't show up on the stat sheet. I'm intrigued to see what a healthy second year does for him. Hopefully the same it did for Lawrence.

Before he had the injury he was getting pressure and holding his own out there. After he was not much of an impact. I think he will be fine but he will never be a big guy but he needs to get to and maintain that mid 250 range which I think he will with a good off season

Yeah prior to the injury is when the flashes came. I think he's going to be a problem with a offseason. We will see a big jump. He's not ready yet but we knew that. IMO, I was more impressed with him earlier on than I was with Hardy earlier on. The injury was a huge setback.

Guys a rookie. Had an injury that took away his best attribute. I think I might wanna wait until I judge the poor guy.

Maybe everyone should just take a deep breath and give the kid his rookie season and an off season program before labeling him.

Everyone knew he was slender when he was drafted. Yet I see people remark about the press building this up when this very site went overboard about this guy the second he was selected.

I watched that video breakdown by the guy in Houston and was pretty high on his potential myself.

It is either greatness or bust with you guys.

Gave him a lot of leeway for the high ankle.

If he's been healthy the last few weeks and this is it, well, that is very disappointing.

I think/hope that the injury hurt his production and he never really got comfortable playing at this level. If the injury was not the problem, I can see why he was available in the late second round.

Gregory wasn't stellar, but he missed 4 games and then wasn't 100% the rest of the year. Hardy wasn't that good either. He was at Carolina. Maybe it's not so much the player(s), but scheme and coaching?

Lawrence 2014 games played: 7
Gregory 2015 games played: 12

Part of why Gregory got fewer snaps than Lawrence did his rookie season, despite playing 60% more games, is he just was too light to be in the base defense.

Let's all cross our fingers and hope Gregory picks up it year 2 like Lawrence did.

Snaps are Snaps and teams were throwing against us much more last year in
catch up situations.

How do you figure Games played figures into this?

All the more reason to sign Hardy and let Gregory be more of a specialist.

Gregory was a risk pic from the start.

I think we all knew that.

It may take several years and adding more talent to the DL to get what is hoped for with him.

But I think help is on the way.

Maybe with this draft.

The pass rush and run defense needs help.

Bosa is starting to look to me as the guy we go after at #4 if he is there.

Especially if Hardy doesn't resign.

Alot has to be worked out in the weeks ahead.

It all depends on Hardy to me. If we get him signed then Bosa is unnecessary.

Our Nickel is still- DLaw, TCrawford, GHardy, RGreg
Rotation guys- Russel, Irving, McClain, Walker, Whaley
Add a 1T in the Draft and re-sign JCrawford and Mincey cheap

I agree.

We have lost so many guys on the DL it's hard to see improvement.

Ratliff..Ware...Spencer..numerous others..

I would like to see us find a couple of DL we can depend on like we have done with the OL.

To that end..

Taking a guy like Bosa to place on the inside would help Hardy immensely.

Hardy plays a lot of snaps and is the attention of the OL all game.

It all depends on the Hardy contract like you said.

That should be decided well in advance of the draft so we will know.

I think we have a better version of Hardy on the team. T Crawford. Marinelli spit the bit by forcing him inside due to not getting a legit 3T.

Look at the numbers coming out of college.

Crawford is stronger, quicker and faster than Hardy. It was a mistake to move Crawford inside. I think he could be a very good SDE.

I'd move Lawrence back over to WDE. Get Ian Williamson from the Niners and get yourself a true 3T type (A'Shawn Robinson) in the draft after a trade down. You can still rotate Crawford inside on passing downs and bring in Gregory.

Doing this gets us some size up front. Saves us from having to pay Hardy.

My prediction is that Crawford will continue to be banged up and fighting through injuries every year because he's not built to play inside all the time. Let him get back down to 275, which he's probably pretty close to at this time anyway, and move him outside.

That, to me, is what makes sense. Get another safety in FA, maybe David Bruton or Reggie Nelson - Weddle if he comes a bit cheaper.

Huge off season, this draft has to be right !!!! How often does Dallas get to pick this high ????
