Grier's great game and gets cut

It was fun to watch but having said that the Raiders looked like a JV team tonight. Really bad.

I've never seen a qb throw for 305 yards and 2 tds with 2 tds rushing and get cut.
Probably because you’ve never seen a five year veteran play an entire final preseason game against bubble players. He was never on that kind of pace against the better players he faced in the first two preseason games.

Too little too late. He had his chance. He'll be somebody else's 3rd stringer. Meh
He might not even get that. One good preseason game isnt washing away the last few years of bad tape. Doesnt really offer any upside. Honestly he might be more likely to parley it into a USFL or CFL contract

He sucked the first two games against far better competition. Grier is what he is, he'll be lucky to have a backup job..

I know it's backups, but Grier is the second best quarterback on our squad. Grier has shown heart, the ability to create in off-script situations and he has pretty good touch on his downfield passes.

Rush is solid, but he's pretty much a dink and dunker and it's highly unlikely you'll get 300 passing yards out of him. Rush is a solid backup but he's shown that he barely passes for over 100 yards a game.

He finally decided to run!!!! Massive change in his game
When a defense has to worry about the QB taking off and getting a first down, it changes everything. It is a huge problem, especially if the defense didn’t game plan for it. That will keep drives alive, wear out the defense and keep your defense fresh.

That makes a huge difference.

I hope they let Dak run a good bit more this year. That has been a big difference from rookie Dak, who ran a decent amount. He is a much better passer now… keeping drives alive with his legs will make the offense very difficult to stop, IMO.

Someone will definitely pick him up because everyone focuses on a players last performance. They’re looking for progress. The fact he’s gotten a ton of preseason snaps will make him attractive to someone. He’s well prepared to play in a pinch this season if he has to.

Yeah it was against guys on cusp of the NFL, but they are still world class athletes to make it that far. Grier played the hand he was dealt tonight and made the most of it. He most likely gets a call by somebody soon. I say this as someone who thought it was a waste of resources to have him take snaps at all after deciding to cut him.

How often have you seen a QB that plays the entire last game in preseason not get cut? And you are going to go on one PS game that he played great against 2nd and 3rd and 4th string, and forget the games that he made stupid, boneheaded decisions? And all the practice time he got? The coaches know what he has. It isn't better than Rush. And it isn't worth keeping over Lance/

Who have you seen put up a performance like that and get cut?
I think Cooper Rush had some fantastic final preseason game. May have gotten cut thereafter.
Lots easier to put up numbers in the final preseason game when they're playing all the guys who won't be in the league in a week.
