Grizz: Obsessive rantings of a blogger on Ellis/Carpenter/Spencer

His point, to me, seems to be that Spencer is not guaranteed success at OLB just because he played DE in a 4-3. Its a different position at a much higher level.

Yeah, its logical to move Spencer to OLB. But that doesn't mean he will be guaranteed a succesful career just because some others have done it before him.

the transition to stopping the run and rushing the passer will come easily for Spencer IMO, how he fares in coverage is the issue you guys should be talking about, I'm not sure how he'll do, but he won't be asked to do alot of it

I wonder why we went out and drafted a pass-rusher.

improving the pass-rush at OLB, and Carp flat out stinking are 2 different animals

it should be obvious to anyone that Spencer is the better pass-rusher, which is why we put so much stock into getting him here in Dallas

Which is why I said that if he's worse than Bobby, the scout staff should be fired. Whatever you think of his pass-rush skills, they obviously weren't sufficient. However you classify insufficient ability is up to you.
