That doesn't make much sense to me. If Dez wanted to get a deal done and it was the agent that was playing hardball, why would Jerry Jones have a problem with him switching agents? He wants to get raked over the coals?

It makes zero sense. But it's Jerry, so it's possible.

I don't know for sure. I think Jerry was just comfortable with Parker.

I think that maybe its an ego thing. Maybe Jerry wants to be the face of the Cowboys more so then the players. Thats the reason why you see Jerry dancing on these Papa Johns pizza commercial than one of the Cowboys players.

Jerry is strange. In fact, if he was smart I would make a deal with RocNation to help promote their players with endorsements in exchange for doing cap friendly contracts. That way we can afford to bring in stars like Suh for less money than market price.

New York Nets almost landed Labron James because of the owners relationship with RocNation and JayZ and the contract was actually less than what Miami offered him.

You do realize big time receivers get doubled most of the game, right? This isn't anything new. The great ones find ways to make plays.

Dez leaves a lot to be desired. He's a good talent but he's never been the guy to really be a huge game changer consistently.
Nobody has been doubled more this year than Dez. And not only is Dez drawing man coverage with a safety over top, teams are keeping the lb underneath to stop the slant as well. This offense goes because of just how much teams fear Dez. Take him away, and we struggle to throw for 200 yards a game.

Actually Dez wanted to sign a contract with the Cowboys before the season started. It was his agent that wanted Dez to hold out for more market value. Dez didn't care so much of getting market value he just wanted a contract. Thus this is the reason why Dez fired his agent and went with Roc.

Please share FACTS on how you know this....

Do you have a source to back up this claim he gets doubled more than any receiver in the league?

Again, top receivers get doubled all the time. You don't think Moss was ever doubled? All the time. If you can't fight double teams and are easily taken out of a game, then what is the point of giving him a huge contract? You are not making a valid argument in his favor. In fact, quite the opposite. You are saying all you have to do is double him and that's all it takes.

Agree with the Roc Nation stuff above, but I think Dez is 50/50 on staying with Dallas---it is not a given. As for Murray, he will not be here. But on the bright side, AP probably will. And we do need to have a good backup for Romo, who is probably not going to play one full season in the coming years. So much for the Triplets 2.0 .

And I hope I'm right. Dez is having a down season STATISTICALLY due to us running the ball and having Weeden for a game. I could be wrong, but maybe Dez gears up with a new agency because he knew Dallas wants to negotiate over the break and things weren't working with his other agent in the negotiations process. Bryant has also always been a second half of the season explosion, so the Cowboys may want to catch him while his stats are lower.

This is totally a guess, and I could be totally wrong. Just have a gut feeling Dez Bryant will be a long term Cowboy before the Giants game

They should pay him per catch and take off for drops.

RocNation is a great agent for Dez. They aren't all about signing big contracts. They are all about endorsements. Thats the reason why players like Suh wants to go to New York because its all about endorsements and not the contracts. Thats what today's NFL agents don't focus on except for RocNation.

Endorsements was how Michael Jordan became a billionaire. If it weren't for endorsements he would be nothing more than a multi-millionaire. Labron James was an inch close to signing with the NY basketball team. Thats because that basketball team has a good relationship with RocNation and would have made James more money than Michael Jordan.

I believe this is good for Bryant and for Dallas as well. Bryant would now be more willing to sign on for a cap friendly contract because he knows he will be making more money on endorsements. Of course I could be wrong. But it will allow the Cowboys and Bryant more wiggle room when it comes with NFL contracts. Like I said, endorsements is where the money is at and this is where I believe Bryant wants to go.

Bryant is doing the right thing. He wants to remain I Cowboy for his entire life. It was his agent that wanted more money not Bryant.

Read below on where I got my source:

Good find.

In general more endorsements with reasonable contracts is better for star players because it gives them and their team a better chance to win.

PFF, I think, had it. And it wasn't even close.

I think Dez is worth a big contract that puts him in the top five. Players like him that give you production and the mentality a team needs is worth it. We actually need more like him. Especially on the defensive line. Don't worry about dez's drops. He is great for us and will continue to be. We are already short on some players with some dog in them and he has it. McClain. Scandrick. Frederick. Leary. Losing Dez would be losing more than production.... We would lose some toughness.

Ok. I wasn't questioning you. Just don't know where to see advanced stats like that.

But he needs to learn how to deal with it. He will be doubled the rest of his career as long as he has talent. It happens to all of the best WRs.

How many times does Dez have to say I want to be a Cowboy for life before people believe it. I realize a lot of guys say it but you can just tell he does. The guys heart is here and he's said numerous times he wants to right this ship

Great, great post. And it will probably not get nearly the attention it deserves, but you are dead right.

And if Dez, or someone in his camp, was smart enough to know that Roc Nation will get him more endorsement money, that could essentially help drop the offer he'll accept from the Cowboys. Jay-Z, say what you will about him, is a very smart business man, and he's with good agents. This is a great fit for Dez.

Dez gets double and triple teamed virtually every play unless the other team is sending the house. Randy Moss would struggle to put up big numbers.

We don't believe you, you need more people.

Dez's new agent will feel me on that!

What is the rush?

I suspect the front-office is perfectly OK waiting to see how the season plays out.

Currently Dez is rated 13th in NFL receiving yardage (635) wedged between other NFL superstar WRs DeAndre Hopkins (684) and Mohamed Sunu (628).

Also there isn't a single one of the guys ahead of him with a lower yards per reception than Dez.

Dez is going to make top 10 money but the case for Dez to make top 2-3 money is lessening.

Good deal for the front-office.

The rush would be to fee up the franchise tag if there's any thought of using it on Murray. I'm not sure there is, though.

I would be hesitant to sign Dez to a big contract. Too many times we see him almost completely shut down. Yes, he has his periods where he is a flat out beast, but he also disappears a lot. Now I don't know if this is on him or the quarterback, but it is still scary.

From everything I have seen and heard, he got his butt whooped the last two weeks by Peterson and some rookie for the skins. He has dropped several balls this year as well. I'm all for bringing the guy back, but I would not pay him like one of the top 5 or so receivers in the league.

They also brought up a good point on the cowboys break today. With the way it's looking, we may be lucky to get 2 more years out of Romo. It would be tough to give Dez a huge long term deal without having a quarterback for the future. Unless you are the Colts, you will always have a couple down years when transitioning between quarterbacks.
