Guessing: Dez gets extended over Bye

Jordy got a 4 year 39 million dollar extension. This is probably what we are using as out basis. Dez is porbably using Calvin and Fitzgerald as his basis.

4 year 42 million seems fair to me. Dez is younger but Jordy is better.

I am a big Jordy Nelson fan, however, I personally don't think Jordy is better than Dez. I admit statistically it's been close the last couple of years, however, I think Nelson benefits from a QB (Rodgers) who, probably better than any other in the league, is able to hit Nelson in stride, has perfect ball placement, and is able to make every throw.

It seems like every week there is a highlight of Nelson running 45 yards down the field singled up on some poor safety who isn't up the task.

This year maybe I've seen Dez on 1 maybe 2 out of those types of patterns.

Again, I think Nelson is a real fine WR, but Dez is in a different league. If Dez played in the Packers offense with Rodgers throwing him the ball, you'd see some off-the-charts numbers.

This.

Dez hasn't been able to get any separation this year, he's more likely to make a difficult catch, but he hasn't blown the top off of a defense this year. I'd be curious to see how long each of his touchdowns are, they seem to be all from within one to fifteen yards.. He's been more akin to Keyshawn Johnson than Terrell Owens.

Well, if he dropped a ball or two he would suck and needs to go....I've heard it here...or some other foolish crap.

Dez is a possession WR. Jordy is more like a Wes Welker / DeSean Jackson speedy slot type WR.

This is what separates Calvin Johnson from everyone else. He is a combination of both.

Possession WRs don't need a lot of separation. They use their size and strength to catch balls. Jordy wouldn't catch crap if he couldn't get separation.

I don't believe Dez is a possession receiver. They just aren't asking him to run intermediate or deep routes this season.

Also check out a player page on Nelson -- he is 6-3, 220 and is a bit of a horse. His 40 time is average but he is a long strider which means past 40 his time starts to improve.

We should resign Jesse Holley instead of Dez. Or at least crank up another 4th and Long so we can really get a quality WR rather than Dez.

I dont know about that . . . . Holley?
Holley over Dez?

What is the rush?

I suspect the front-office is perfectly OK waiting to see how the season plays out.

Currently Dez is rated 13th in NFL receiving yardage (635) wedged between other NFL superstar WRs DeAndre Hopkins (684) and Mohamed Sunu (628).

Also there isn't a single one of the guys ahead of him with a lower yards per reception than Dez.

Dez is going to make top 10 money but the case for Dez to make top 2-3 money is lessening.

Good deal for the front-office.

I don't know the numbers for Dez off the top of my head but I do know that the last two seasons he came on much stronger in the second half of the year then he was the first half of the year.

So I wouldn't be in such a hurry to believe the guy isn't going to start putting up much larger numbers by the time the year is over.

one thing you don't see is Jordy Nelson getting shut down like Dez. Trust me...Dez is on my fantasy team and I was expecting him to go off this year. Instead we are seeing drop balls and to my amazement Dez has been completely shut down by three different CBs. We are also seeing dez having difficulty beating double teams. He is a nice player and is highly marketable with "X" stuff but if he wants contract anywhere near what Calvin Johnson gets...he should be moved even if Dallas temp assigns franchise tag to him while they shop him.

Dez gets double and triple teamed virtually every play unless the other team is sending the house. Randy Moss would struggle to put up big numbers.

No he doesnt, the Cards and Commanders but had 8 and 9 men in the box for a significant number of plays and he didnt make either team pay.

He also benefits from playing with Cobb

The problem is that he's dropping alot of those contested catches this year. Sure he's making some spectacular ones like in Houston, but he has dropped plenty of slants and contested crossing routes this year that have hit him in the hands

He officially has 5 drops this year. That ties him for 4th in the league. That looks bad until you look at his actual drop percentage. (5.8%) When you take that into account, his drop percentage puts him closer to #100 rather than tied for #4. 5 drops on 86 targets with 50 receptions.

There are a lot of big name WRs that have a higher drop percentage than Dez. There are just too many chicken littles that are Cowboys fans.

Jordys had some great games, but what do you call shut down?

Jordys last game....@ NO- 3 catches, 25 yards, 0 tds

vs. Minn- 1 catch, 66 yards, 1 td
