I didn’t hear them say he was out, just that he was hurt.

And regardless if Newman is out, the Cowboys offense will have to score in the 30’s to have any shot.

If this defense gives up 30 points to the Chargers i'll be highly dissapointed.

really, who is going to do that.

You know good and well people can and absolutely will do this.

We still had people claiming Romo's pinky was a reason why we missed the playoffs. They thought if Romo played against the Rams we would have won and made the playoffs by that reason alone. People were still using the injuries as an excuse why we lost the Philadelphia game, nevermind the rest of the team falling apart. Some even claimed the pinky was an issue for Romo's struggles as recently as the Giants game--this year.

If we miss the playoffs by one game and we lose to the Chargers this week, then Newman's absence would be used. If you can't see that reaction, then you really haven't been paying attention very well or honestly are one of the people who would feel comfortable using the excuse.

It isn't like Newman playing would mean an automatic win. He could get torched just like he did taking a risk on the Hicks touchdown. When Scandrick gets victimized in very much the same fashion, people will pretend Newman wouldn't have done that. He hasn't been stellar this year. At all.

It is up to the rest of the defense to take up the slack and also Scandrick has to step up. But if they don't, the fact we had one cornerback out is going to make people believe that it was the reason we lost.

I would say prepare to be disappointed but I have seen way too many games that were supposed to be shoot outs turn into defensive battles. I think you may be right, but if you are I would also say prepare for BOTH teams to score less the 21 points.

Interesting, lots of people say things here.

For instance,

alot of people think kitna should have been starting, they think the staff should have been fired and shanahan been hired immediately, many wanted to trade newman, barber. Many thought brooking was a bad signing.

last year we had a bunch of injuries so there was an aspect of it playing a role, not the main role but it was part of the equation.

If we lose newman, I dont think you will see that same reaction. Losing one player or two most can deal with. I dont think it will get us beat all by its self.

Ironically, many of the same people who wanted to trade newman or bench him will be the ones whining about him being injured....as it always is around here.

If Scandrick gives up the winning touchdown pass to Vincent Jackson in the waning moments, you will absolutely positively see it. Even from people who can "deal" as you say.

Scandrick played really well last season during that stretch when we had Jenkins, Scandrick, and Ball playing the CB spots.

If Ken Hamlin isn't ready to go, this would all but force Pat Watkins or Mike Hamlin into the starting role since it would move Ball into CB.

well if scandrick is awful and gives up the final td or whatever I would think it would be part of it. that is just natural isnt it?

We dont even know if he is out yet.

Say it occurs on a goalline fade. It would still happen.

Scandrick is everyone's favorite whipping boy right now. Last year, there was Proctor to kick around for the OL woes.
If Newman is out I see the score differently now.

Chargers 38 Dallas 35

Scandrick is awful.

They have already started. Already.

And even if he plays and gets victimized himself. "Well, he was playing hurt".

No excuses. The Gmen were absolutely hobbled by injuries, and even lost Snee during the game, but they persevered anyway. Time to follow their example and suck it up.

It just means the staff has to adjust.

Just like we survived with Reeves the year before.

there are always going to be people here who do nothing but complain and whine.

I personally think SD is going to score a bunch of points regardless and we will have to win a shootout.

I agree. My hope is Newman is not injured as this thread 1st indicated but if he is he is and all Dallas can do is make some changes in the secondary. I do think if Newman misses we will see more zone coverage’s.
