Guessing: Newman out against the Chargers *Maybe*

No excuses. The Gmen were absolutely hobbled by injuries, and even lost Snee during the game, but they persevered anyway. Time to follow their example and suck it up.
That is partially my point.

Fans and even some on the team use injuries as a crutch.

Everyone has them. If you spent time dissecting each game and thinking misfortunes associated with injuries cost you this and that, then you are playing a game best suited for a loser.

and every fan when their teams have critical injuries point to the injuries as a factor. With or without Newman I do expect the Cowboys to go out and win the game this weekend I also know we are better with him in the lineup than without him but as you point out injuries do take place and it will be up to others to step up and fill the void.

Newman healthy for an entire season?

I knew it was to good to be true....INJURY PRONE!

Nothing has actually been confirmed about this injury or that it has taken place.

****!!!!

As much as this sucks, lets not act surprised. Newman stays banged up.

Too bad Scandrick has decided to suddenly start sucking. With Newman and Jenkins on the field we had one of the best sets of CBs in the league.

I vaguely remember a game against the Packers in 1999 in which the Triplets didn't play and Larry Allen was injured in-game. We won rather easily. Losing T-New would hurt, but it's hardly a deathblow. Just ask the Giants' shattered secondary.

Let's not fool ourselves about how important T-New is to our defense. I can recall quite a few breakdowns (including last season) of our defensive performances with and without Newman. When he's gone, we drop off big time.

Word. Really limits what we can do up front, blitzing, walking a safety up, etc. You could tell Wade was really starting to trust his corners with the way he's been dialing up a lot more intense blitzes that rely on you having faith in your corners to not get burned.

I know what guys are going to say when they come in here. Things like "YAY!". Then it hits them that Scandrick is gonna start instead of him and we might have to put them on suicide watch.

Not good. Not because Scandrick is starting because I think he'll be up for the task. Our depth at corner is looking weaker. Is Alan Ball going back to backup corner or what?

With Ken Hamlin back you can bet Alan Ball is playing nickel CB. He was playing that previously anyways.

This team has handled injuries pretty well because they have put the best players on the field not just the next guy on the depth chart. See Alan Ball and Doug Free.

Great news across the board right there. I just hope he doesn't do what he normally does, rush back and prolongs the injury. I love his competitive fire but we need him for the playoffs.

There's a rumor going around that Newman was swimming in a pool at Valley Ranch and the resistance from the water did damage to his knee. Then, Tickle Me Elmo did the same exercises Terence did and was totally fine. T-New at his best!

In other news, Felix Jones tore his MCL while rolling out of bed. More on this later.

By the way, Newman couldn't have been hurt in practice today, because practice doesn't even start until 1:15 Central.

Didn't you hear, he turned it crossing the street when a bus nearly hit him...

:laugh1:

Scandrick will probably be better on the outside, than in the slot. Ball will probably return to CB if Ken Hamlin can play this week. If Ken can't go then we probably see more of Watkins and maybe Mike Hamlin this week.

He will be? That's funny cause the one time they started him out there this year he got destroyed. Scandrick is not good, this year anyway, at covering anyone no matter where you line him up.

I have hope once more, I had a relization, Newman is overrated

Jenkins will shine in his #1 CB role, Scandrick will step up .

Sorry but I doubt it. There has been no evidence from Scandrick thus far, this year, to show that he'll step up and do anything other than be torched more often.

xWraithx;3131006 said:
well looks like a lot of people around here are gonna get their wish...

I say be careful what you wish for.

Yep. Exactly. Newman isn't the best corner on this team anymore, I'm a huge Newman fan and even I know that Jenkins is clearly the best Corner on our team now, but he's clearly better than Scandrick.

Rampage;3131147 said:
Scandrick against Floyd or Jackson is a nightmare

Absolutely. It's one of the worst nightmares we could possibly have all season long.

casmith07;3131155 said:
Scandrick played really well last season during that stretch when we had Jenkins, Scandrick, and Ball playing the CB spots.

If Ken Hamlin isn't ready to go, this would all but force Pat Watkins or Mike Hamlin into the starting role since it would move Ball into CB.

This isn't last season. He's not even played well in the slot this year and the one time he started on the outside he got destroyed.

Actually we need him just to get in the playoffs. If he doesn't play and we drop another couple games while hes out then we won't need him again this year cause we won't be making any playoffs.

LMAO! Ok I'm a T-New fan, and I think people go overboard on the injury prone stuff, but I've got to admit that this was hilarious. Thank you.
